well new seats good idea but hate the $1 surcharge the rest of us will have to pay

Another indicator of the lack of foresight into Heinz Field planning. This is the 3rd time that they have added seats to Heinz Field, a stadium that many said should have been bigger to begin with.

I agree. The planning to expand wasn't very good. At least the field itself help up this year.
 
My understanding is that a lot of the empty seats are explained because people in those seats often like to congregate in the SRO areas. At least that's what the Rooneys told Goodell..
 
Tickets sell out, seats not always full. The Steelers are one of the few teams that actually announce the real gate for each game. Can't wait to get back out to Heinz for a game later this year.

Some of the empty seats are because people choose to stand because the sight lines are better. So I think you should be careful what you wish for...
 
Considering 3RS was always sold out and there was a 20-year waiting list for season tickets, I just don't understand the rationale behind why you don't just build a 75-80,000-seat stadium. Even if people didn't go to the games, they would still be able to sell a whole hell of a lot more seat licenses, and would probably fill most of the seats on Sunday anyway.
 
Real Estate -- they didn't have the SPACE to make the stadium bigger -- and bigger is not better -- look at the number of seats in the CRYBOYS stadium -- most of the seats there SUCK -- the players look like ants

And some people don't show up cause of the weather, or they don't want the extra expenses that week, or because the team is playing bad. It all factors in. And then, of course, are the people who go but leave early.

They should have closed the north end of the upper decks with more seats. I don't get why they left it open.

To keep the demand high for the seats. There are thousands of no shows every week, thus the empty yellow seats. The moment the Steelers start losing or the weather gets bad, fans stay home--fair weather fans at their best.

I disagree that the Steelers made a mistake no making it big in the first place. They are adding another club to this area and a ton of these seats, including the field level seats and dead center on the second level of this expansion are premium seating. More money that way that would not have been the case if they had this section filled in from the start. You can go to this website for renderings, views from the seats and prices:

True. Consider all of the people you see standing on the rotundas during the game and then consider the fact that they do not sell SRO tickets.
 
Just hope it doesn't destroy the sight lines to the city from the other side. Always thought that was superb and a signature of Pittsburgh sports with PNC Park being one of the greatest sight lines in all sports stadiums.
 
was'nt it supposed to be 3000 seats, that was be installed, according to when they announced the make over which included the new scoreboard in the south upper west corner, did they this year install 1000 seats?
now, did they reduce 600 seats, the north end better have seats up to the scoreboard or just a few feat under this should also make it easier to kick to that end for Sushi, probably 45 yards should be automatic and max range 48 yards, he is a very iffy K from over 50. Justin Tucker has made it look easy kicking at Heinz field.
Sushiam has been very reliable but a few misses here and there over the past 2 years could of changed a few seasons, i.e sushiam missed a 47 yd fg at the end of the 1st half vs tampa which would of changed the outcome of that game, had we won that game we would of been 12-4, and maybe had we won that game maybe we would of not taken the jets lightly and we maybe would of been 13-3 and could of had a bye.

Well hopefully this end is louder to help the yound D, and the young D can feed of the noise.

I am a little surprised that SRO tickets have never been sold, particularly for playoff games. Easy money.

A lot of people disagree with me but I'm disappointed with Hienz Field and many of the sight lines. I know there are reasons for not doing so, but I wish the seats were closer to the field and the lower level had a steeper slope.
