9 FAs the Steelers shoul look at

Colbert please don't bottom barrel feed us this year please !

Awesome list, I wish it was that easy. Even if it's just a player or two, would love to see any of those CB's and S's signed to the Steelers.

IMO, if we are to get better on D than we were this past year...the draft ain't gonna get it done.

We NEED a high-profile signing at either OLB or CB. Even better if we do both. We only have maybe 4 years left w Ben to get our rings so who gives a damn what cap hell we put ourselves in to make it happen?

i don't care if we have the first 5 picks in the draft. Based on the draft history, we'd be lucky if ONE even had a significant impact year one.

Maxwell will be out of our range, I am sure he will be in the 5 mill+ range and having spent about that same cash on Cortez, we need to to look for a cheaper option like Cox, say Cox at 3 years 10 million and re-signing McCain 2 years 3 mill adding 2 rookie DB's, that should add enough youth at DB and stability, I like either Powell or Helu JR to back up Bell. Clayborn on a 2 year vet min deal would be great addition for the new formations and the Bills SS could be a steal, I think they will either bring back Will Allen or look for that under the rader ala Clark type S like the Bills one mentioned, we could draft Anthony Harris or Holliman and they come in on passing downs at SS while Allen gets a breather.

Ben's salary cap hit will likely be less after they finalize his new contract.
Very early to say everyone on that list will demand high dollars, it is simply a unknown.
Steelers will have money to spend once they do what they do.
If the Broncos and the Pats and Baltimore can bring in free agents to solidify obvious holes, which they did last year.
No reason the Steelers can't do it this year, with even more money to spend when its all said and done than the previous year. And we know they brought in Mitchell and Blount.

Well bring in that caliber at OLBer OLBer CB and SS.

and the rest of depth fill in the draft.

It can be done, and needs to be done at least a OLBer SS and a CB to give a very talented O a chance to be balanced.............

The problem here is we are going to up against the cap. I am not an expert or claim to know all the in's and outs but we still owe Woodley 8.580 mil. Then we have guys like Troy and Allen who have big numbers but after June 1 if cut will be a big savings which as we all know that will not hep us in FA!
I hope they don't offer Worilds a contract other then the last 6-8 games of last year what has he done? He wasn't worth the 9.75 mil he got this year and if he was a team player he would have been signed long term last year. I am not sure what kind of contract Houston will demand or if he will even be available but if I am the front office I check him out. I know that is not the Steeler way but hey we use to play smash mouth football now look at us. We have a nice group of young LB's there add this guy and maybe that position is fixed....maybe.
With the money from Troy and Allen after June 1 (11.631 mil savings with 3.6 mil in dead money) we use to pay the draft picks about 4 mil and add depth with remaining fa's and/or and extention to a player. This is where we can do some basement bargain shopping imo.

I would look first at the best FA cb we can afford. But I would next try to get Terrance Knighton to fill the role of NT/DE. He seems to be both a run stopper and offers some pressure. That would offer both help for McClendon and time for Tuit and Mculler. Then go best OLB and best CB in the draft.

I do not disagree with you but with our bigger needs at this time at OLB and CB "pork chop" is not on my radar. I also feel that if we fix the back end then Big Dan can step it up, jmo!

If Worlids is back and over 5.5 mill avg, no room to add a impact FA best to then trade up for Trai Waynes probebly the most polished rookie CB aside from Alumu, Waynes at 6"1 190 4.3 could start opposite of Gay right away. If the plan is chase after Maxwell and try to lock him up in the same range as we locked up Cortez then options at OLB are retainingMoats on a short cheap deal and drafting someone like Orchard who could play in both the 3-4 and 4-3.

Of the 8 picks we are going to have I think it should be a high priority 5 go to D, 1 to offense RB/TE, and 2 OL depth

My best guess is after Ben @ Heyward's deal's we have enough to retain Worlids, I go after Helo or Powell both Claybord and Hughes would be nice to give Butler enough bodies to mix and match 3-4, 4-3, 46, 5-2-4.

1 Claybord
2 Powell
3 Hughes
4 Antrel Rolle

I think Worlids didn't sign a long term deal in the summer because he hada huge upper hand in leverage 9 sacks and 11 starts, was probably on the market the same type of cash we gave Woodley when we signed him but it was probebly last year the same as Paul Kruger got from the Browns, what was reported was we offered in the 6-8 mill range and after almost averaging a sack a start coming in mid season to start he felt he was probably worth 13 mill avg, this season showed he is probably at best in the 5.75-7.75 mill range, well after a average year where he was payed 11 mill it shows he is not a max deal OLB but somewhere in the middle and Art ii is quite content of bringing him back, lets see at what cost, new Ben, Heyward deals should open up some cash to bring in 2-3 bodies add in cutting troy, Cam Thomas, Moore and that should be enough to sign the draft class while upgrading depth at OLB, CB @ on the DL

Trading up is usually real expensive in rd 1 and not sure Waynes is the talent you want to do it for. Need to see what his weight/speed numbers are at the combine. Still a year where we need body's.

Hughes worries me because he played with such great tablet around him. He won't have those caliber players to take the double teams and such in Pittsburgh. Can he still produce here?

A farrior kind of signing is our best hope to have a shot next season

Waynes @ Jalen Collins are the most ready corners that could come in to compete to start, Waynes 6"1 182 4.3, Collins 6"2 198 4.48, I THINK kEVIN Johnson THE WAKE FOREST KID IS A YEAR AWAY FROM THE TYPE OF CONTRIBUTION WE NEED.

Alex Carter could be the diamond great size and speed and a perfect fit for a zone, we can trade 5-7 spots and get him in round 1. Olumnu, I would try trading up for in round 3 or round 2, he is going to be a shutdown slot CB and eventually be playing on a island in a year or 2.

my main 5 targets

1OLB Worlids
2 DE/DT/OLB Adrian Clayborn
3 CB Kareem Jackson
4 DE Jerry Hughes
5 CB Kareem Jackson
