Bayless, regarding Tom Brady:
"I put him up there with Muhammad Ali."

SAS: When I look at Brady, I see two. Two losses in the Super Bowl. Joe Montana didn't have two losses. He has a big fat zero in losses. The bigger the stage, the bigger he played.

Bayless: "Well, upsets happen."

SAS: Not to Joe Montana.

***** of course, we can say the exact, precise thing about Bradshaw.

**** Tom Brady

SAS is right for now. But if Brady wins a 5th ring...

Bayless is a hater. SAS occasionally gives the Steelers some love.

he still has two losses.
Eli's never lost a Super Bowl and has been in it twice.

Eli also beat Brady. Twice.

Eli >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brady

No one ever gives Bradshaw his due except in negative talk but he called his own plays and did not lose a Super Bowl. He threw the ball more than six yards down the field as Brady. Brady gets a lot of credit but I see no comparison in some of the Super Bowl QB's to Brady as he is better. This is a passing league now and rules go toward the receiver and QB's.

Like Terry said, in every game, even Super Bowl IX, when the team needed a TD pass, he got one. I'd love to see Terry in today's game, that would be fun to watch with his cannon of an arm.

It would be interesting if you could just drop him in now in his prime. I wonder if it would take a while for the teams to adjust to a guy throwing most of his passes down the field, as opposed to all the dink and dunk from other teams. Would it work?

Brady doesn't have any rings as far as I'm concerned.

I'm flat out serious about that. The **'s have cheated through Brady's entire career. Not one of those "championships" is valid in my opinion and I won't validate them. I simply won't.

Bingo........

Brady's the greatest five-yard passer evah! The most boring dink-dunk offense in history. He would be dogshit prior to the 90's rules changes. Edelman should have been the MVP.

Shouldn't this be in the Pats Penis Envy thread?

I get so sick of the GOAT discussions. They are ALWAYS laced with the recency bias.

One of the arguments I've heard for why he is "the greatest" is that he's won it 4 times in the day and age of the salary cap...that it's harder to do so in today's NFL.

Bullshit.

Everyone likes to think that pre-salary cap and free agency, somehow things were easier. Sure, if you were THAT QB on THAT greatly built team, you had a higher propensity of winning. BUT there were always 5 or 6 other very well built teams you had to get through to get to the dance. Playoffs used to have some epic, epic battles. The Steelers and Raiders and Houston in the 70s for example. There were other teams, with no salary cap or free agency issues, chock full of talent. When you beat 2 or 3 of those teams to get to the dance, it said something.

Think of those monumental games between the 49ers and the Cowboys in the 90s. Two freaking amazingly deep football teams.

I think the playoffs then were harder because the cream of the crop rose to the top more often and teams had to play true, deep opponents to get to the prize.

Look at the *Patriots this year. They won the AFC Least, again. They played the #6 seed and what, the #3 or #4 seed to get to the Super Bowl.

Everyone wants to call Brady the GOAT because he's playing now. Thank you SAS. You're right. Montana had 11 TD Super Bowl passes, ZERO picks. He never lost a Bowl.

Sorry, but he still remains the GOAT

Bradshaw, 4 Superbowl wins in 6 years, 3 of those wins against hall of fame QB's, Dallas Doomsday Defense and Vikings purple people eaters. Unmatched by Brady.

Bradshaw 4 rings..NO CHEATING, Montana 4 rings NO CHEATING. Brady ZERO*** rings without cheating...**** him and that entire organization! Our 70's defense would have shredded that team under 70's rules. Brady would have been snapped in ******* half like a twig.

Playing by 70's rules, tommy boy would have never made it, for health reasons....

Salute the nation

can anyone really show 1 throw that brady made yesterday that was hard? dump offs do not equal greatness.

The TD to Gronk was a good pass down the field. With Brady, its not pin point accuracy or a big time arm that makes him great. His timing on the throws, reads on where to throw it, and and ability to throw a catchable ball to moving targets are very good. And he doesn't need a star WR or RB to make things go.

Look, i hate the patriots as much as the next guy, but lets be honest here: the patriots are by far the best in the league with this death-by-a-thousand-papercuts bullshit, and so that's why they utilize it. Why would they not use that style of play if they didnt think they could succeed with it??

it works for them and it is very effective. But it does not make Brady great. He should not be in the same conversation as Montana or Bradshaw for that matter

The real question should be, IF Marcia played in the era of either Bradshaw or Montana...would he even be in the conversation?

I say even ONE of the many clobberings Bradshaw or Montana took would have ended his career.

Another thing NOBODY ever brings up is that BOTH Bradshaw and Montana played their entire careers without a radio in their helmets telling them the plays based on formations!

The radios started in Montana's last year in KC, btw.

The pats are only good because they take advantage of technology. A bunch of scrubs.
