Well the Steelers have access to the draft board and trade offers, I do not.

In order for me to call ALL draft picks live I would have to sit on a computer for 12+ hours and post here during the process. Nobody does that.

I don't recall you stating who your would have picked the day after and I add details in my annual draft on who would have selected thread. Why don't you do that? I'm not going to to post all of my real time picks just to impress you. I do so on some picks in round one and two. Last year I said I would have taken ILB Lloyd when the Steelers reached on Pickett in near real time. I also liked Pickens.

My official picks the day after will have to suffice. Judge me there.
We'll be waiting with baited breath.

I state it in the draft day thread so yeah, I do it live, at least for day 1 and 2

No need to wait until that time to judge you coneman when we can do it now twatwaffle.

It doesn't matter where Skor is initially placed, it matters if he stays there. Really risky with a team rich in guards. But you are all about risk with wanting a RB in one and a QB in 4 right? No need to wait until after the draft to see who you would have picked. I am sure everyone can visit Walterfootball if they are interested in knowing.

Traded back. The Steelers seem to like Bresee and Wright. Check and check. Sanders can play all three downs at ILB. Steelers seem to like Brents as well. Harrison is big on the edge but they should be able to utilize him. He doesn't have to play right away. Coburn is a 7th round big NT and Daniels can play the slot. The first 4 picks make this draft and will make the Steelers draft next week.

    Bryan Bresee
    DT Clemson
    trade icon
  • 32.
    Darnell Wright

You can play along SlashVag. Come join in on my thread who you could have drafted the day after. I hardly read Walter Football, there is better on the web. Yes I like Robison is round one IF he is on the board. I like a few guys in round one. Unlike yourself I am not sold on Pickett and think the Steelers would be wise to hedge on one in the draft.

If they draft a QB it won't be one to give Pickett competition. They have a backup in place. So look for a QB in 7 coneman no earlier.

Again they will not be drafting a RB in 1, you have a better chance of buying a clue.

tempted to take Wright or van ness but can get Edge or dl depth later
17 WR Addison, I make it clear he replaces DJ long term, I have 4 years with Jordan on a low cost
32 CB Forbes, big and fast CB perfect to play on the outside whether we are playing man or zone
49 DT Benton, large enough to handle playing in the middle, and athletic enough to play 3 downs.
80 DT/DE IKa, plugs the middle, makes it very tough to run up the gut vs us and on 3rd down he can sift to the 5t to clogg blitz lanes
120 trade down to the bottom of rnd 5 get 6 mid and late 7th pick
rnd 5 OT Carter Warren swing T competition for Moore, Warren gets a year or 2 to add bulk if he survives the camp and holds a swing OT spot
rnd 6 LB/DE Diabate versatile defender can push Robinson
241 WR Bell new PR and will make a great slot WR, runs excellent crossing routes, fantastic run blocker
7 Comp C Oluwatami Rimington winner, excellent in the run game, smart and gritty.

Im really not a fan of this site right now… their rankings are a bit askew from the general consensus and their algorithm doesn’t adequately really give an in depth assessment of a teams need, so you have ridiculous runs on positions that leave great value in some cases and strip positions in others… but i did a few anyway.. here was my favorite

PIT
25.Brian Branch S Alabama
trade icon
Round 1 i traded down for a third and a fourth… they had like five ots go in the top 15… i bet no more than two go there.. three tops. I still got Branch, and I think Cinci will be trading into the top 15 to get that guy..
PIT
32.Anton Harrison OT Oklahoma
While some interesting trades were available here… i could not pass on Harrison here. He was the last viable top LT prospect
PIT
63.Gervon Dexter DT Florida
trade icon
I traded down twice because of the glut of good targets at 49, then 53… i could have gone with Siaki ika here, but i think between Adams and Fehoko, they wont look for that big DT, rather that athletic De/dt type
PIT
80. Noah Sewell LB Oregon
I could have targeted TooToo a bit lower, but Sewell is a guy who has bloodlines and tgey have shown interest in him…
PIT
89. Eli Ricks CB Alabama
trade icon
This isn’t my favorite pick. To be honest, if we don’t grab a first round high ceiling CB , id rather us gamble on a day 3 pick with a bigger boom or bust potential … this guy is a potential fill in next year when Witherspoon and Wallace leave, but he isn’t the top end guy we seek.
There are two lower rated guys both named Mehki i’d like to get… Garner and Blackmon, that I think would work for us. For a long time tgey were udfa or seventh rounders, but they have both climbed the rankings recently so they probably will need to be at least fifth round picks ..
PIT
103. Nathaniel Dell WR Houston
trade icon
So I took him because he was great value here… not just to appease Coolie lol… of course then in the 122 to 128 range, it was filthy with value wrs with size, which I think we need more than smurfs
PIT
122. Sean Tucker RB Syracuse
trade icon
Literally took this guy because he was falling and he fits the tomlin smurf love… lol… I actually think this guy will be rather average at RB, and that he could be injury insurance and even make it onto the ps if everyone stays healthy
PIT
125. Clayton Tune QB Houston
trade icon
Yeah two Houston guys in the same draft… we would never hear the end of it… I traded the seventh round picks and never got a sixth. Here was the thing… we need a third qb that can be the backup next season… there are some great late round gambles, Tune is a better prospect than they are and he likely will not be there at 160… because we had a glut of picks i opted to ensure the backup qb slot was solidified for tge next half decade rather than double dip or get another guard
PIT
128. Brenton Cox Jr. EDGE Florida
trade icon
There were at least five Edge guys I would have been happy with here… that position is stacked this year.
PIT
160. Luke Schoonmaker TE Michigan
I just missed out on Mehki Garner and nothing else was pressing here. Schoony gives us injury insurance with upside.

This one fell funny. I don't know how you can pass up on Murphy and Bresee. I didn't get an early OT so I took probably the best C in the draft and an OT with potential. This only sucks as I didn't get a CB and CB is the one position we need someone to emerge as a starter. I also snagged Coburn in Rd. 7, who is a Big Snack clone and went to the same school.

Berm's last mock:

  • 17
    Broderick Jones
OT | Georgia - No brainer. Kenny can't get killed anymore and Najee needs better help up front. Enter Day 1 starter at LT.
    A
  • 32
    Calijah Kancey
DL | Pittsburgh - If this kid falls to 1.32 and we stay put - he's not Aaron Donald but I see a lot of Ed Oliver in his game.
    A+
  • 49
    Trenton Simpson
LB | Clemson - Oh how we have missed the speed of Shazier in the middle. The kid can cover TE's and RB's - and he's not afraid to hit the hole and blow up RB's either.
    A
  • 80
    Jordan Battle
S | Alabama - Say what you like, Branch will be gone, but I'm telling you, Battle is an interchangeable S and can (right now) do everything Edmunds did.
    A
  • 120
    Tank Bigsby
RB | Auburn - I liked this kid from the first time I saw him run the ball. Buh bye Benny...
    A
  • 241
Mekhi Blackmon - I don't see the need to have a starting CB as some do - let this young thundercat come in and learn for next year.
    CB | USC
    A+
  • 251
Ali Gaye - The kid is explosive and probably would have gone higher if not for injuries each year - question is 'how do you cure durability'???
    EDGE | LSU
    A+

Mock the Mock https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2023-nfl-mock-draft-pff-analysts-seven-rounds-four-qbs

1.17 Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
I feel like the Steelers are committed to solidifying the offensive line and Wright would take a step in that direction. Other considerations: Brian Branch, Nolan Smith, Deonte Banks Myles Murphy

2.32 Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
I've been so adamant against drafting at TE2 this early, I decided to try something different. I want the Steelers to build around the offense and if a guy like Washington can help this group take the next jump, let's give it a shot in this mock. Other considerations: Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Julius Brents, Cam Smith, John Michael Schmitz, Joe Tippmann

2.49 Derick Hall, EDGE, Auburn
Hall hasn't been in any of my mock drafts, but I'd love to have a three-man rotation with pass rushers. Other considerations: Steve Avila, Jack Campbell, DJ Turner

3.80 Jartavius Martin, DB, Illinois
Playmaker last year with 3 picks, 11 PDs, and 2 FFs. Has the ability to play the nickel or safety, so fills the versatility missing without Sutton and Edmunds. Other considerations: Clark Phillips, Keion White, Gervon Dexter, Jonathan Mingo

4.120 Riley Moss, CB, Iowa
Ball skills are there and can be a solid contributor as he develops.

7.241 Dontay Demus, WR, Maryland
Good size and just trying to add depth.

7.251 Jaren Hall, QB, BYU
Taking a chance for a No. 3 QB and future backup.

I like the idea in double dipping at corner in a strong depth class. I think if they can manage that with a T and a pass rusher their draft is a win. The rest is just gravy on the potatoes for me.

No trades and my first time taking Kancey. It just seems too many think he is a first round guy so I am taking him at 32 after getting our OT in the 1st. If Wright can't play LT, he stays at RT and bounces Chuks to swing tackle for a season. Chuks couldn't cut it at LT for the Steelers for 3+ seasons so I see no reason he has improved enough to bounce Moore who still has upside, especially with his handicap, Dotson, hopefully out of the way. Couldn't pass up Campbell and Rush definitely has potential at CB. Grabbed Mingo for a big slot and a guy who runs good routes. We need that. Again, took Big Snacks clone in the 7th.

This was a strange draft. all OT long gone by 17. so I traded back a few times.
Does the new OC take over Canada’s position on day one or is he going to be “red shirted” till next year?

I actually have Derick Hall at 32 for us.

This guy is a perfect fit at OLB for us, and I will sit back and laugh when Steeler Nation screams at picking him so high..

Did the trade-up scenario with the Bears to get Paris Johnson. Ouch. Freaking ouch. Completely guts the ability to get guys I want, since I 100% push for the Steelers to draft Darnell Washington. He fell all the way to 49, could not pass up but taking Johnson at 9 and giving up 32 means no Mazi Smith, no top-level CB.

I like Johnson. Also think Rush could be a solid CB. Big, physical, fast, SEC-tested. Wicks a good receiver, Diaby going to be a very good edge rusher. Needs work at beating blocks and stuffing run. Coburn this late a steal. And I really like Washington. His skills as a blocker improve the OL, running game, passing game and red zone. Yes, please.

Here is one you are not likely to see anywhere else! That's probably not a good thing, but anyhoo, did I hear upgrade the trenches and pass rush? I did, didn't I? DONE!

I guess Van Ness needs to add some carbs and play 5-tech since I drafted two edge rushers in the 7th. Still, Wright is the immediate starter at RT, Van Ness upgrades ROLB and RDE, Simpson can run with TE's and RB's over the middle of the field, Ricks has the tools but needs to stay healthy, Pickens a solid DE, and the two Edge rushers.

Fine, I admit I took a break in the middle of the draft, forgot I moved up to get Van Ness (using the pick I got from the Raiders to drop from 17 to 19) when I drafted Ramirez. And Abdullah. But hell, no worries about Watt and Highsmith getting exhausted, ehh? Not one, not two, but THREE Edge rushers ready to jump in.
