Edmunds signs with Eagles

Fairly obvious the FO was comfortable with moving on from Edmunds considering his current contract.

From some statements made by Tomlin and Kahn, I don't think they're done in the free agent market. The Steelers have traditionally tried to avoid going into the draft with the need to find a guy who will need to play immediately and as it stands now that is exactly where they stand. Taylor Rapp is still out there or if they plan to supplement the current two safeties with Peterson on occasion until the draftee gets comfortable maybe they grab someone like Rock Ya-Sin to help plug that void.

I just don't see them standing pat going into late April.

Who said that Edmunds was bad first round pick and was against the trade up to land Bush?

Coach, Many of us here didn't like the 1st round selection, not because of the guy but it was a reach for 1st round.

Had they chosen him in the 3rd round, then NO ONE would have a problem and remember he has been our 5 year starter. There are a LOT of 1st rounders who don't start yet alone are even around for 5 years.

Edmunds has been a SOLID player and a true teammate who has caused ZERO problems off the field. A professional team player is hard to find be he was all that.

When did you say that? A month ago? Yes, we should all bow before the unbelievable intellect of Captain Hindsight. Shut up douche, no one cares

I said this when they were drafted. Thank you very much!

Really will be interesting if T,CB,SS,DE and WR value is = come 17.

I would lean Jones but yeah will be interesting who they take...

I think when comparing the fabulous five SS falls off the quickest after Branch...

Slashvag,

Jones will be off the board by pick # 17.

Thank you for that thorough insight Nostradumass....and Ed Oliver won't be drafted in the top ten right?

Anywho sure Jones might be off the board by 17 as he is a highly regarded tackle. Just a wait and see droolmeister. I now return you to your regularly scheduled drivel have a jovial day fruitpop.

Another thing to take into consideration is DK Sport played a part of his interview with Kahn and Kahn said that if the right guy is there, he has no problem moving up to get him. Kahn did not say he would move up, just indicated that that option is always on the table.

We as fans don't know who the right guy is, but it does add allure to the equation. I'd love for it to be trench and Jones appears to be that guy. If he was there at 17, it would be hard to pass up that opportunity.

Steelers could be adding S Keanu Neal

He would be used close to the line. Gives the team better depth with Edmunds signing elsewhere. I don't think he is as good in coverage as Edmunds but he is a solid hitter and should be good in a rotational capacity. I know about a week ago the Eagles looked at him so if that team shows interest I think it is safe to say he will be at least a good rotational player... Thinking Kaz will be the starter but Neal will get his playing time..

Minkah, Kazee, Neal. I like our 3 Safety package for this coming season. Edmunds probably left for a starter role while here he'd be 3rd S and have to share time with Kazee. At least that's what Kazee's contract tells me in comparison to what Edmunds got

That line up is good, it doesn’t scream that we invest a 1st round pick.

The best players will be at OT and CB. It's how it's been offseason and probably how it will be when the draft plays out. They're two areas the Steelers can improve and you can never have enough depth at either position.

True but if we are going corner VS LT. I think if it is even Steve they should pick the tackle. Just hard to have a chance at a good one IMO..

CB
1. C. Gonzalez
2. D. Witherspoon
3. D. Banks
4. J. Porter Jr.
5. E. Forbes

OT
1. P. Skoronski
2. P. Johnson
3. B. Jones
4. D. Wright
5. D. Jones
6. A. Harrison

I don't think the Steelers are focusing on guys like Skoronski or Harrison for tackle. However, I'd probably draft in this order:

1. Gonzalez
2. Witherspoon
3. Skoronski
4. Johnson
5. B. Jones
6. D. Banks
7. Wright
8. D. Jones
9. Harrison
10. Porter
11. Forbes

Not bad. OT's, the good one fly off the board in round one. IMO we are hoping to get one of the top 6 OT talents at the start of round two otherwise we are F'd. The top OT's you rated #1 to #3 will be off the board. What's left will be a slight reach at pick #17. I think at least five tackles will be gone by Pick #31. We have pick #32

In a perfect world we get an offer to trade down and staying in round one, picking up additional picks. Then we can do a better job of matching need with talent relative to where we pick.

For a new idea make all proposed trades on draft days are PUBLIC information as they happen! Trades would be entered on a during draft days to be valid but before the picks in the round. As close to real time as possible. This way fans can see things as they happen and evaluate the trades and offers years later , and on the fly. It would make the draft even more watchable! Was an offer made and rejected?

Corner back is not a primary need and we have sucked at drafting lately. We lead the NFL interceptions. Not that this means everything. But I do not see cornerback as a primary need right now. We have some depth at the position. Sure we lack a #1 CB who is anything close to a " shut down " type of CB. There is no Sauce Gardner in this draft and such players are drafted way ahead of pick # 17.

There you have it, corner will be picked in round 1 or 2.
