Does Bus make the Hall this year?

My worry is that the ardent Davis supporters will not vote for Bettis until Davis gets in, and im pretty sure there are some hardcore guys that aren't voting for Davis. its not easy to get two of the same position in. they tend to take turns, and soon there is going to be another set of first ballot guys coming through

The talking heads sure are pushing davis down our throats. Jerome is and was overall a better back. Plus the longivity and total yards rushing. Seems he is the one and davis should be sidelined.

I think so. Hope Greene joins him.

If he doesn't get in it is a travesty.

This needs bumped back to the top. I love how the Steelers official website has been getting interviews from HOF'ers that think the Bus should get in this year. They posted some great stats on him and a great video. If you haven't seen them, go check them out. Watching videos of him run is a site to see.

The Bus needs to be parked in Canton and this is the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bettis is without question the finest BIG BACK the NFL has ever seen.

Sure everyone will point to Earl Campbell and say he was better and Earl was damn good but no RB the size of Bettis. Bettis had the footwork of a guy like Barry Sanders on the frame of a guy like Earl Campbell. He was unbelievable that the guy his size could shake and bake defenders and just shrug them off when he was in his prime. He could run over you or run around you. He really was a special player and IMO belongs in the HoF before Terrell Davis.

I think it depends how you are rating them. If you are going on who was the best in their prime, I give the nod to Earl, not by much, though. If you factor in longevity, I give it to Bussy.

I don't even know if Davis deserves to be in at all, considering how short his career was. For those few years, he was the very best in the league, but it only lasted a few seasons. Bettis rocked on for many years, and he was diminished for only his last season.

If Martin got in before Bettis, Bettis should get in before Davis. Being prolific should count for something.

I would think Davis is borderline to get in at all. The numbers the Bus put up (look at the article on the Steelers site) compare with other HOFers and are even better than all but a few. Another stat they showed was how little he turned the ball over. There were only 2 backs with less turnovers per carry than him and none of them were close to what he did with yardage, etc. He is still number 6 all time in yardage. He should be in already. He is definitely one of the best RB's ever and not just as a big back.

If Davis gets Hall of Fame attention, does James Harrison?

Sure hope the Bus gets in. If Brady gets in his bust should be one of these not fully inflated.

Many voters are critical of Bettis as he never lead the league in rushing. HOF voters use this as a measurement.

He should, very comparable situations. Both were the best at their positions for a few years. James won DMVP and a ring. Davis is comparable in his career. James should have won SB MVP, not Holmes.

6th leading rusher of all time is hard to ignore.

(6th leading rusher of all time is hard to ignore.)

Agreed!!!

And, he was fifth when he retired. The numbers and the intangibles are all there.

John McClain of the Houston Chronice, a longtime Hall of Fame voter, says that coaches should go into a wing separate from players.

The reason: It would help clear up the logjam of players waiting longer than they should to get in, like Bettis.

How is he kept out, fifth on yards when he was a power back not a break away runner, long career, a Super Bowl ring. Only thing he does not have is ESPN talk shoes everyday saying something about he deserves to be in as CC was done.

HoF voters should be refreshed every 10-15 years to get new perspective....old biases cloud judgment and accomplishments. I remember Peter King saying there are too many Steelers in the Hall....even though they are THE dominant team of the Super Bowl era.

If Kurt Warner gets in and Bus doesn't, Imma be pissed.

Peter King should never be allowed to vote on anyone's HOF credentials. He is an absolute homer for the Pats** and Red Sox and a paid shill for the league. If I were forced to sit and talk to that insufferable *** for 10 minutes, I'd be looking for a way to kill myself after 2.

May wanna rethink your position on Warner. He is one of the greatest playoff QBs ever, only QB in history to have two playoff games with 5 TD passes and the only QB in history to throw for over 1,000 yards in the playoffs twice. He took 2 separate teams to the Super Bowl, winning one and he took the worst franchise in NFL history, the Cardinals ,to the Super Bowl. He was 9-4 in the playoffs with a QB rating of 102.8 and threw for 414, 365 and 377 yards in his 3 Super Bowls.

Bus deserves the Hall but he was a poor playoff player with only 674 yards and a 3.39 yards per carry average in 14 games.

They are both Hall worthy.

Feeling lazy. However, outside of the playoffs, where do Warner's career numbers put him. Top 5? Top 10? Top 20? I mean there are more than a few great "playoff QBs" who are not in the HOF. And they aren't there because their numbers outside of the playoffs weren't that special. I know Warner had his season with the "Greatest Show On Turf", but he also had years where he was a backup in between his Super Bowl appearances.

Warner is the best passer in playoff history at 102.8 and no one else is close. His regular season stats are also great and dwarf most QBs in the hall and per game he ranks up there with anyone in history.

Ahhhh ... he was alright I guess. But those years where he had less than 200 attempts and 15 TDs (5 and 6 years respectively) ... that kinda sucks (especially since he only played for 12 years). Also, his regular season passer rating is waaaaaaay lower than his playoff passer rating. He has solid credentials and his playoff performance should nudge him in (I guess). But he's definitely not as deserving as the Bus.
