Maybe I'm old school, but I really miss the block style jersey numbers. These newer rounded off numbers really do not suit the the teams identity.

Agree 100% with the both of you, I hate the rounded font. I wish the Rooneys would scrap the current font and make Pittsburgh's uni perfect once again

only change we need to make to our uniforms and I am hoping when we have our 85th anniversary season we wear the only old jerseys we haven't the 1967 jersey's those have superb number fonts as do the 1960 we used to wear with the yellow helmets those ones had awesome numbering design, I remember after I bought my first Steeler jersey in 98 it was not block lettering and the 3 and 6 were curly and prior to that season when I used to watch the Steelers Bettis Jersey the 3 and 6 looked cool, many years later when a worthy player jersey was worth buying well Ward and Burress could by some been argued worthy in 2004, I am in 05 after we won the SB got a great deal on a road Big Ben jersey, again number design on 7 and Lettering sucked, I when I went to the 07 season openor the year we brought the 60's back and on my way out I stopped at the sideline store and saw a throwback troy and the 43 and Polamalu printed looked awesome so I bought that then a 70's Lambert and for the past 5+ years the Troy has been my game day jersey just last year I on road games started wearing ben. Now when we play San Fran or Oakland which ever first, I will grab a bumblebee 84.
me n my 9er friend are gonna come.

When is the contract with Nike up? The day I hear the Steelers are going back to the block style numbers is the day I buy my next jersey.

I miss them severely. The round numbers aren't horrible, but they're just not as cool.

The block numbers are such a good look. The Penguins brought back the Pittsburgh gold. Pitt brought back the Script. Time for the Steelers to bring back the block numbers.

...and bring back great tackling, hitting, pass rushing and general overall football meanness.

Never did care for the current rounded numbers. I'd change that and the following:

Flat black helmets w black chin straps

More of a black and white color scheme with gold trim.

Which I severely hope they make permanent again.

I disagree, the white chin strap and white socks add character to the uniform. A black chin strap (which, if i remember correctly, was tried during the '98 season?) just looks over-done in my opinion. And I'm glad the Steelers wear gold pants and not white.

And there you have it...

I don't recall the entire team with black chin straps, I do recall Bettis and Tim Lester wearing them. Black on black is understated, not overdone, as it blends in. White on black stands out.

yeah, you're right, it wasnt the whole team wearing them. And no, I think its over done. We're not the ******* ravens or falcons with the all-black bullshit

Bettis wore the black chinstrap and also used a black bumper where you normally see the white Riddell/helmet manufacturing logo. All the Steelers did wear black shoes that year I believe as you can see in the pic and Hines Ward rookie pic too (before he changed to number 86).

I also believe they had all black nametapes on the away jerseys...those might be '97 though.

What does Nike have to do with anything? Reebok had the contract before, it was the same number style. The number choice is 100% the Steelers decision.

Insaniti is correct. On a side note the Nike jerseys have a much more cheap feel than the Reebok ones. Authentic ones anyway. And I mean the legit ones form NFL shop not knock offs.

If the number style choice is the Steelers, perhaps they will listen to their fans and bring back the block style numbers! I am Linked IN with Art Rooney the IV. While I won't post his contact information here I could email him on the topic. You could say he has his the owner's ear!

Subject covered ad nauseam. Yes, 95% of Steeler fans prefer block number font.

Nothing better than Lloyd's ole #95 in block #s.

My brother has a framed Lloyd GAME JERSEY and it rocks.

Jarvis Jones will never be a 10th of the old # 95. Never.

Me too. I love it when they change suppliers because I can buy the old stuff on clearance. :)

Id be for it, but there are a dozen meaningful things this franchise needs to worry about before the whole round or block debate. I will celebrate SB#7 the same for either...

Uh ok. but it would literally take less than 2 seconds for Rooney to nod his head or snap his fingers, and the decision would be executed to make the switch back on the uniform. it's not like the entire scouting department would have to be pulled off the trail in order to make it happen. If tweaking a uniform is that much of a distraction to our front office, then I would have to say I'm pretty worried about the franchise's future.
