Last year wasn't too successful with Mike Mitchell, Cam Thomas, Lance Moore, Arthur Moats, LeGarrette Blount and Darrius Heyward-Bey. Quite possible that we only have Mitchell on this year's roster.
i have a feeling that this draft will be about RB. For years we've been hearing that you just wait in a RB and plug anybody in there in a committee and you're OK, This is a copycat league and when you look at the impact that Le'Veon had for the Steelers and Murray for the Cowboys and Lynch for Seattle, i have a feeling that many teams have been reminded that when you have a great RB, he's a playmaker.
Defenses have spent the last few years getting smaller to defend the pass. It may be the start of offenses going back to running.
The NFL has made it easier to pass so everybody is doing it. But is it translating to wins? Yes and No. WHen you rely heavily on the pass then many games become a crapshoot. You may score a ton but do you have control of the game?
I have a feeling lots of teams have realized that the big passing stats aren't guaranteeing wins and they may be looking for that stud RB to close out games.
There could be 3 First Round RBs
Gordon - Wisconsin
Abdullah - Nebraska
Duke Johnson - Miami
Then after them there are still a bunch of quality RBs who may be available after round 3
Todd Gurley will be a question because of health. How high do you take him?
Jay Ajayi of Boise State is impressive because he looks like a complete back.
David Cobb - Minnesota - tough inside runner
Jeremy Langford - Mich State
Tevin Coleman - Indiana - had a big game vs Ohio State. Ran away from OSU defense which has plenty of speed.
Karlos Williams FSU - big back with good feet
TJ Yeldon - Alabama - not sure what to think of him. Looked great as a freshman. Not so great this year as the Bama OL dipped from great to just pretty good. Is he the kind of RB that needs big holes to run?
That's 10 RBs who can be a great #2 or even a starter. There are more too that will be available late.
Blount wasn't from lack of talent.
Mitchell might have been injury mixed in with his first year in the scheme.Thought he played better down the stretch.
Moats had decent reps along with Brice.
I thought Thomas and Moore were the bad signings.
But to try and get one two or three right is better than standing pat and not having experienced backups or starters when it comes to CB/OLBer and possibly even SS.
