Offensive tackle Zach Banner and inside linebacker Devin Bush are both working their way back in a limited capacity at the Pittsburgh Steelers organized team activities at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex this week. Both suffered season ending ACL injuries that ended their seasons last year. Since their injuries, the two of them have been pushing each other during rehab in Pittsburgh. Banner referred to his rehab partner Bush as his “mini twin” and stated, “He (Bush) hasn’t missed a day, I can’t say anything bad about him… we’ve both been here in Pittsburgh, we’re both yinzers.”

With training camp scheduled to start on July 21st this year, will both of them be 100% ready to participate? ACL injuries typically require a nine month rehabilitation before they can fully return to full contact and participation. There are exceptions to players returning earlier, but nine months is the standard. Banner was injured Week 1 against the New York Giants and had ACL surgery on September 19th. Nine months after surgery would place him at June 19th for his full recovery, so he has a chance of being a full participant at mandatory minicamp June 15-17, but should be fully ready to go for training camp.

Devin Bush was injured Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and had ACL surgery the following Wednesday, October 21st. Training camp opens nine months to the day he had surgery, so we should also expect Bush to be fully ready to return to practice day 1.

There are great expectations for these two players that had their seasons cut short last year. With a return to full participation, Steeler Nation can rest a bit easier knowing the inside linebacker and right tackle positions manned by healthy starters determined to make up for lost time.

Banner needs to hold his end of the "bargan" Coach Tomlin presented.............................

Needs to be a SOLID full season RT.

Bush on the other hand needs to become someone other than hurt. When he publicly addresses his hatred of another potential (out of the nfl for 6 years) player and promisses retribution when they play,...... well maybe he can get healed and actually focus on football instead of things that don't matter. for what he is being paid to do.

You hope both can stay healthy and on the field this season. As their injuries both negatively impacted their position. No Steelers ILBer has Bush's sideline to sideline capability. I also think Chukes is going to play better at his LT college position. I think he is more of a LT than a RT. I know some won't think this but I think Chukes will show this. I am not talking all pro but if he is a better version of last year I think we take that.

slash, I don't doubt you on the Chukes analogy but IF he ends up as the LT then he needs to step up and show he is the best available. I've been pushing the Moore kid but in reality I want the honest BEST player manning the LT position. I don't want "VET" favoratism by Tomlinism.

"Big Dot" (Dotson) sure seems to be speaking up lately. He looks like he could become the vocal leader of that OL.

There is some pitbull in that one. I think he could turn out to be the teams best run blocker.
