Hartman is easiest their dumbest writer. I go to a lot of Steelers sites and read. And sometimes some of his articles are real head scratchers.

I don't go to many other Steeler sites but IMO the best blog writer is Still Mill at Stillers.com.

BTSC hasn't been the same since Neal left. Used to be the premiere Steelers blog.

He's got to win a spot vs. what, Ventrone? I'd say there is a chance he at least makes the 53...beyond that is anybody's guess.

Lake was praising Shark in OTAs.

yeah over the years I learned to take what is said training camp and pre-training camp with a grain of salt.

Shark is hanging on by a fine tooth comb. For the Steelers sure you hope the light turns on. But so far besides STs...........he has showed little to nothing.

I was thinking the the same. He's been a Special Teamer more than anything. At that I think Ventrone brings more to the table Special Teams wise --- Shamarko may be cut this pre season

The most impressive thing about Shamarko Thomas...........was the MOVIE Sharknado, gave us his nick name.....

Salute the nation

Neither offer much for the defense and Ventrone is pretty good on special teams, Thomas isn't.

Just a word of caution... plenty of players take 3 or 4 years before they totally catch on... not saying this will be the case, but yinzers have overlooked and written off many a player who wasnt HOF caliber out of the gate only to see them figure it out a few seasons down the road....

It's like he doesn't even realize the most obvious stuff. When has Shark shown any signs of figuring the pro game out? He can't even grasp that you can't hit a player before the ball arrives on a punt.

At this time of year the coaches are trying to build some of the guys' confidence. I put little weight on stuff said from OTAs and camps, for the most part. I am sure Shark is working and running all over and putting in a good effort. But none of that will fix his main problems - which is lacking the mental capacity to "get it."

Well, how many safeties will they keep? Right now they have 8: Shark, Mitchell, Davis, Golden, Ventron, Dangerfield (who get's not respect), Hagen and Vinopal (from PITT). I'd say Mitchell, Davis and Golden are locks, leaving 5 to battle for 1 spot? I know nothing about the last 3 and Ventron has serious liabilities in ever starting. Vinopal is interesting. He's only 5-10, 200 lbs but wasn't that about Troy's size? He's a gritty, hard-working type.

He's about a 4.5 forty guy which is good enough if he plays with good instincts. He did 26 reps with 225 which shows me he is plenty strong enough. If he shows potential, I keep him over Shark because his upside could be higher. We know Shark's upside...not much.

Dangerfield looked good last preseason, but it was vs lower competition.
