If another team offered a better than average tight end for mason rudolf, would you do it?

how much "better" than average are we talking? like, top 2 or 3 in the league, i.e. travis kelce or george kittle? then yes. anything less than that, then no.

Not great but more like top 10-15 starting tight end in the league

Chiefs and Niners already have their franchise quarterbacks they're not trading one of their best players for another quarterback. The Giants on the other hand need a quarterback and have Evan Engram but I still wouldn't do that trade.

If we didn't have a TE then yes, but we have McDonald, who you hope stays healthy.

How long did we live in the proverbial Dark Ages between Bradshaw and Roethlisberger? Now that we see a glimmer of a possible franchise QB after Ben, we're thinking about scenarios to ship him out?

Hell no....Trading the potential future Franchis QB for a player we don't even know who the hell he is?

For the rights to Gronk? And he agrees to come out of retirement. I would do this to get the ring

It would have to be a very top tier TE and even then, i'd have trouble doing the deal. As it stands, Rudolph is going to be our No. 2 QB and the closest thing we have to a legitimate starter when Ben retires. It would be tough to get rid of that.

Again this has to all be taken with the understanding that it would totally depend on how the Steelers view Rudolph’s upside... if they see him as a landry jones type with a #2 ceiling then fine deal him for an average return... if they view him as a potential starter, then only a premium return is good enough. if he has that magic “it” factor that leads them to think he can be pro bowl or better then there is no deal to be made... not even for gronk... cause you know what would be horrible.. handing the Pats Bradys replacement for a slight window extension for Ben...

And the Steelers do not view Rudolph as a Landry Jones type if you go by what Colbert says. Colbert has reiterated that they had a first round grade on him.

At the end Gronk was a shell of himself. And has lost a lot of weight. No thanks..

IMO they found a POSSIBLE replacement for Big Ben in Rudolph, until it is time for him to start, you don’t really know for sure, so no way I trade him.

Let's just put Dobbs at tight end. He's smart enough to play TE, right? That solves "perceived" backup problem and our tight end problem in one fell swoop. /sarcasm

Mmm I'd have to see exactly who the name is, and see what kind of receiving threat that person might be.

Actually, the more I consider it, it would have to be a top 5-10 RECEIVING tight end, as well as 3rd rd pick or higher, before I'm handing over a potential franchise qb of the future

both the steelers and pats had first rnd grades on mason surprised how he fewll to the 3rd.

Not a chance. Rudolph is significantly better than he was last year and is a very rare drafted QB by the Steelers who has the potential to be a good starter. We already have a top 10 tight end and aren't going to use two in the passing game to justify that type of trade. Plus, once you get by the top 2 or 3 guys in the league, the skill sets are pretty much the same from 4-15. There should be an upgrade available after cuts or available for a late-round pick.
