I think they could shelve Ola until he is healthy creating a spot for Skipper. I look at Gilbert as a lock. And Kelly looks like a lock as well....

I love Skipper's enthusiasm and energy. He's brought a lot of both, each time he's stepped on the field. Add in the splash plays, he seems to be the biggest surprise of the pre-season.

I'd be ready to part with Chickillo. He has no more upside. He is a spot starter. Pretty much the same with Dirty Red but he has played well and is a core Sp. Teams guy.

Skipper has looked good against 3rd team guys and a sprinkling of 2nd teamers.

I don't fall for "camp hype". They ALWAYS look AMAZEBALLS in preseason.

I hear 'ya, wig, but my take is this: If a guy is expected to do anything against starting offensive linemen in the NFL, he better dominate the #3's and #2's. That is what Skipper has been doing. He absolutely blows up TE's assigned to block him, forcing teams to use a lineman to take him on, and then he beats lineman with quickness and a relentless motor.

That is what he needs to do to make the team. Will he blow up guys like Orlando Brown, Chris Hubbard, David Njoku? Maybe. Sure as hell more likely he beats them when he is blowing up the #2's, isn't it?

Another way to look at it too is this. There is a significant amount of shuffling in camp. Some even when the public eye isn't watching. So the team gets a feel for who can do what where. So when you see a guy get cut in your opinion that shouldn't. It could very well be when they put them in certain situations they didn't shine. Against lesser talent they did. Is that the case with Skipper? Who knows. What I do know is he wasn't going against the ones. The coaches will know better in that regard. But what I saw from him I was impressed. But to say he is better than option A player who has faced better competition is like well I can't really postage stamp that for a send off.

Tuzar is an awesome name
So is Ola.

Ola needs to be able to get on the field or he isn't worth anything.

What some of you might not realize, is competitions like this have a ripple effect on the roster. As I and a lot of you are seeing, I think Ola and Skipper deserve a roster spot. That means carrying extra LBs. If they don't cut Chick, it means another position is going to lose depth. Where do you make that cut? I think the Steelers may have to carry 2 QBs this year if this is the case, because both are strong options both on D and ST, whereas a 3rd QB didn't see the field last season.

Tough cuts indeed!

I agree. 2 qbs and hodges to the Practice squad.

Mr. Yellow Jacket Chickillo should be the #1 name on the cut list from the LB's...
