Not that he's followed logic, but it really would be stupid for him to show up after week 1, especially if money is his primary motivation. He shows up week 1 and sustains a significant injury as early as the 1st play of the game, he gets all 14.5 mil. If he waits until 10 games are in the books, he's risking an injury for just under 5.5 mil guaranteed. If he wants to have '18 count as a season and move on from the Steelers going forward, he'd be out of his mind to risk injury for anything less than the total amount of guaranteed money. Heck, he could take one snap against the Browns, pull up with a "hamstring" injury, wink wink, that just never gets right and he gets every penny. Not sure if it's doable, or how the time accrued works, but it'd be a better move to play the first 6 games, to accrue his necessary games and then hold out if he doesn't have an injury. Collect 5.5 mil and preserve himself for next season and his new team.
To those that think the Steelers should trade him after he signs, what team in their right mind would trade anything of value for a guy due 14.5 mil, and known to be difficult to negotiate with, without having any guarantee that he can be resigned to them after '18?
