There are 10 days till the season opener and the Steelers yet again will take on the Browns week 1. That also means, there are 10 days for running back, Le’Veon Bell, to report back to the Steelers. Missing OTAs and training camp, Bell has kept the details of his arrival unknown after quickly stomping […]

If he doesn't show before week 1, you can thank Deebo.

That would be one ignorant *** ex player influencing one ignorant current player. Soon to be ex.

That is almost a tongue twister !

I read that yesterday Slash and it pretty much confirmed to me that this ****** wants out. He knows it’s not happening in a Steeler uniform so now he wants self preservation. I have said all along he’d be willing to forgo weekly paychecks just to get out of this situation so he can sign his big deal NOW.

See ya!

Its funny how BELL "rapped" about money during his contract negotiation but "SILENT" right now other than a "stomping" of credibility of when he will show. Some here think he is the second coming of the mesiha and others want him gone yesterday. I think we will be OK with or without him. Does he have potential to be better than anyone we currently have...YES but if you aren't here then "HELL NO". Who is to say our current players don't have the potential to turn the page on Mr.BELL???? Time will EEK this out and regardless of what shakes there will be argument both pro & con to BELL. I'm willing to take our chances without him, plain and simple.

Bell won't be football ready in Week 1 is my prediction. He can be in good physical shape, but until you participate in football practices and games, that is a different level. We might see more of what we saw in 2017 when it took him 4 games to reach 100 yards on the ground.

FAK him. If he shows play him only with the game in hand. His timing will be off and he'll look like a chump. This man-child has allowed himself to believe his agents line of hopes, lies and BS.
Perhaps if young man spent more time focusing on reality than in a wake and bake fog his career could have been stellar?

He will show up. I got $14 millions why he will be in uniform for week 1. Will he be ready? **** I don't think so. They will take it easy on him until he's had a few weeks to get into better football shape.

Shame its gone down this way but lets run his wheels off after he's back and in shape and his next team can worry about all the drama next year.

I predict he'll report to pick up his pay check, but won't be in football shape for week one.

Pretty please with whip cream and sugar on try to trade him once he signs the tag.

If Bell isn't signed by wed I pull the tag, now follow me here. If Bell holds out till week 10 and it takes him 4 games to become his old self that means he won't be productive until week 14 so whats the point? we give him his way with holding out and still pay him 6 mil almost 4 of it to be non-productive. By week ten he could actually hurt the team more than help it depending on how Conners is playing, also if were are still in playoff contention without Bell why spend the money at all let it roll over till next year and get some defense, if we are not in contention why spend the money just to let Bell showcase himself.

Good points! What worries me in all this **** storm is what is it doing to players. This has to be a major distraction to the veterans on this football team. “Will Lev show on time or not?” “ can we win without Lev?”
I hope I’m so wrong and he shows up Monday ready to go and has a monster season. I’d love to be proven wrong on this one. I’m just not feeling it though thinking he ditches us until when he has to report.

If he doesn't show for week 1 (which I think he will) then he doesn't plan on showing til week 10.

Not that he's followed logic, but it really would be stupid for him to show up after week 1, especially if money is his primary motivation. He shows up week 1 and sustains a significant injury as early as the 1st play of the game, he gets all 14.5 mil. If he waits until 10 games are in the books, he's risking an injury for just under 5.5 mil guaranteed. If he wants to have '18 count as a season and move on from the Steelers going forward, he'd be out of his mind to risk injury for anything less than the total amount of guaranteed money. Heck, he could take one snap against the Browns, pull up with a "hamstring" injury, wink wink, that just never gets right and he gets every penny. Not sure if it's doable, or how the time accrued works, but it'd be a better move to play the first 6 games, to accrue his necessary games and then hold out if he doesn't have an injury. Collect 5.5 mil and preserve himself for next season and his new team.

To those that think the Steelers should trade him after he signs, what team in their right mind would trade anything of value for a guy due 14.5 mil, and known to be difficult to negotiate with, without having any guarantee that he can be resigned to them after '18?

If Bell sat out for 10 games, then signed his mythical 17 mill per for five years, it would be the equivalent of taking a 15/5 deal... plus his stats suffer... hed be pretty dumb to do that

In Bell's case the week 10 deadline is irrelevant to his accrued seasons, as he already has the four seasons required to be an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2019. The relevance of the week 10 deadline, is if Bell does not sign the tag by the Tuesday following the 10th week, he is prohibited from playing in the NFL in the 2018 season. If he does not play in the NFL in 2018, he still becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2019, but the Steelers have the rights to franchise Tag him again in 2019 on the same terms as this year, rather than as a third successive tag. If Bell does sign the tag prior to the Tuesday after the tenth week, if the Steelers want to tag him again in 2019 they are up for the Quarterback tag.

Assuming he's not in the building and signed on Monday, no. He won't play week 1 for sure.

Not everybody owns a Farrari or a Lambraguini but still manage to make it to work on time. Yes BELL is a significant player and does real well when on the field and in right conditioning but the STEELERS will do ok with or with out him. Can any RB rostered at this time on the steelers roster be an exact same RB as BELL, hell no. On the flip side of the coin they don't neede to be. Look at James Conner and his long runs fron line of scrimmage..... He has that ability where as LeVeon don't, thius the gap is lessened. Don't tell me about pass protection as BELL has missed blocks also and Conner has shown improvement. I want BELL to ring and ring loud as that directly correlates to the STEELERS doing well and that my friend is the bottom line. How much of this distraction takes away what BELL brings to the field of play as we won't find out until / if / when he shows up to the field of play.!!!!!

Thought I read somewhere his agent was good to go with the deal last year, and Bell was the one that said no.
As time passes during this drama, it's beginning to feel as though Bell is confused as to what his lifes work is. Perhaps he has lost interest in playing football and is exploring options in becoming the next rapping phenom?

I really don't get why we all give him a comment at all, we all know what he is. Hit the road jack

his beats and lyrics
sound all the same
from beginning to the end
his songs
are lame

as the clowns around him
tell'em he is great
their reasons aren't
up
for debate

as reality hits
he will spend more than
it brings him
that's where his want
for upfront money
comes in

and yeah
Steelers will still
feature him
as Tomlin doesn't
live in his fear

but I am afraid
Bell will be running
somewhere else
next year

:highly_amused:

My guess is he will show up, sign, play game 1, and the Oline will be all out of sync and take holding penalties because he wants to dance instead of just go forward and get yards.

If he doesn't show for week 1 (which I think he will) then he doesn't plan on showing til week 10.

Enlighten me. If he doesn't show until Week 10, does the money he left on the table for the first 9 weeks go back on our cap? In other words, do we get that cap space back if we need to sign someone mid-season?

One thing that needs consideration. If Bell doesn't report in Week 1 and Ben gets hurt in the first game to the point of being out for an extended period of time, then we pull the franchise tag immediately. The season is basically over and we can be 8 - 8 without him.
