The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some much needed moves this offseason to address the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Steven Nelson and linebacker Mark Barron both offer a lot of potential as well as playmaking ability going forward. With two big additions to the defense, this brings forth the question of exactly what will […]

Burns has the tools to be a impact edge rusher. Some of the knocks on him are his reads on setting the edge and a lack of upper body strength. But shows explosive promise. If he’s there and neither Devin is available I’d buy.

**** off. i'm anticipating Cooch's glowing assessment before making my decision (though I could just read **** from walterfootball and arrive at the same conclusion).

I like Burns I think he will be a solid pro. There is a lot of directions the Steelers could go, we should get a nice option in 1 regardless of if Dev's are both gone or not.

Burns, Dev or Hock or even Murphy and I am a happy camper. They could shock us and go FS too. But I am thinking that is somewhere between 2 and 4.

I’m confused Supe. Which assessment? The one two years from now? Coach will whine if anyone other than Greedy Williams is picked in the first.

If they do take Burns it goes to show even more disappointment in Bud Dupree other than expensive back up insurance. Of course though, OUR system would be to complicated for BURNS to start right out the gate............................

I think you mean, Byron Murphy, either Devin, or _____________ (insert any other player here)_______.

Personally, I'm not so sure about Brian Burns...ILB and DB are the two areas of concern that I would like to see us focus on. Like it's been said - if both Devin's are gone AND we can somehow trade up to get Mack Wilson in the second - ONLY THEN would I be ok with Brian Burns at 1.20...

Pass on Burns. Both Brian and Artie.

Josh Allen is the star edge rusher.

Burns looks like another above average pass rusher weak vs the run. I’d rather go with Michigan’s edge rusher in round three

pass go ILB or CB rnd 2 take Vinowich rnd 3 WR and FS

**unless Brian Burns is an All-Pro with 20 sacks each season for the entirety of his career, then Cooch called it FIRST**

Weak against the run huh, which draft site did you read that on?

If white and bush are gone. We could trade back and still get burns.

10 draft picks are not going to make this team. We can actually move around some this year.

That being said, with the 20th pick the steelers rush up to the podium....

The issue with Burns is run defense. Burns' 249-pound combine weight was almost certainly not his playing weight, and that shows itself on the film all too often. Burns struggles to hold his own on the edge in run defense. When asked to set the edge, Burns tends to get turned outside and bullied off the point of attack. Burns' performance versus North Carolina State best encapsulates this concern.
