Why not Claypool with Steelers first pick?

i think hes far from bpa at 49
i think we have bigger needs than at wr

too tall
too heavy
too fast
too Canadian
Sask likes him too much

He won't fit the Steeler's WR mold

Seriously, I like him but like Squid said..... we may find BPA in other departments at 49............. but I wouldn't cry foul if we selected him

There are some things to like and some to question, he doesn't seem to have an elite route tree.. Doesn't seem to be that much of a blocker.. He had one solid year but his average per catch was good but not great. He has a good 40 time and seems to be able to get open...... problem I see is his hands are good not great, for being a tall WR he doesn't seem to win a lot of 50/50 balls. Didn't get a feeling he was great at locating the ball.

On the flip his production increased per season, to end with decent statistics. Looks like slants and deep balls would be his bread and butter. Definitely looks like building up long speed over quickness and burst. Effort looked decent but I question if he is topping out as an ok WR not an excellent one..He is a ok athlete. Don't hate him don't love him.

Just what I saw from the tapes I reviewed. I prefer him in the third.................I think in the second I can find a little better value.

First off I will be surprised if he is there at 49. With his measurables I could see him gone 10 or more picks sooner. They could probably use another athletic linebacker. They certainly are aging at Oline. But if you want to push the chips in with Ben a big rangy wr with speed wouldn't hurt.

Great post, thanks. There are a lot of quality WR in the sraft and unless a top 4 is there I don't see why not take a top player in another position of need that isn't so deep

With all the picks traded away to get Bush and Fitz. You might as well try to hit a home run with the 49. If the pick becomes a good to great player you in the end netted a pro bowl Safety and a starter. They have no third to wait and hope. Claypool is moving up to round one in some mocks. If he makes it to 49 pull the trigger. Also keep in mind that Juju could be a contract issue down the road once they pay TJ and Fitz.

We haven’t had a big target since Bryant and I felt like Ben loved having that and was better for it. I would be happy with the Claypool pick personally.

well you know, they signed this guy Ebron who is quite tall, MacDonald will be back too, 2 TE formations in the endzone should be the norm

I want best player there and if that happens to be OL, we best take him.

Salute the nation

I think he will go in round 3.

I think there is an argument that you think he is third round talent. After his combine results and Metcalf's success last year, I really think you are wrong about him going to the third round. The more I read, I think he will probably go around the Steelers pick, but likely 5-10 ahead. Generally if you see a late bloomer on the first round tree they don't actually go first round. but they don't usually make third.

Do we have our first draft day wager of the year brewing ???

A Canadian boy set to hit the draft board. I am willing to send you some of this year's maple syrup production 2 540ml cans (once the chaos around covid 19 settles)....if he lasts until the 3rd round

You come up with what you suggest from your end in return if he goes earlier than round 3.

And I will throw in a six pack of Molson Pilsner and a backstrap off a good Saskatchewan Whitetail Deer.
My last three bandwagon hop ons have been Watt, Vender Esche, and Bush.

Bunch of sluffs on your bandwagon..........lol

We should get some action going on Neville Gallimore as well. Sask

The Canadian Bulldozer. Plus there was a running back that was in Heisman discussions for most of the season. I think he going back for senior season though.

Got to love his name too ........ RB Chuba Hubbard ..... tough year for the Heisman voting for a running back.......... dude had over a 1000 yards after only 6 games with the Cowboys.... Barry Sanders did it in 5 so I guess he needs to up his game.......

I will blow up the best picture I can find of our second round and third round pick and send it to you. I usually research Steelers rookies and then blow up my favorite picture into a 8 by 10 and take it to training camp for signing. Obviously the pic won't be signed I doubt there is a training camp this year for fans. How does that sound?

Sadly, JuJu is a FA next year...
