Make players do all their workouts in pads?

I hear all the time about the difference between running in shorts and in pads... so why does the combine show off guys athletic abilities in a non game scenerio?

A guy who runs a 4.4 40 in shorts but a 4.58 40 in pads isnt more valuable than a guy who runs a 4.5 40 in shorts and the same thing in pads....

Absolutely agree. Guess the NFL doesn't want to outfit these guys.

They shouldn’t stop there, while they are at it they can replace the bench press with a more relevant measurement(s) . Like the deadlift, squats, pull-ups, and overhead press.

They can also skip the weigh ins and do a VO2 Max test.

“VO2 max, or maximal oxygen consumption, measures the maximum amount of oxygen the body can use during intense exercise. It's considered the gold standard for determining cardiorespiratory fitness and aerobic endurance. A higher VO2 max indicates the body is better at using oxygen to deliver energy to muscles.”

I’ve been asking that question for years

Makes too much sense

I think they should have prospective OL have a hot dog eating contest.
