Don’t get me wrong, oddsmakers will often give the Steelers players and coaches some props, but the National media tends to completely under rate Steelers..

Point: Mike tomlin has never won an AP coach of the year award... he has won other coach of the year awards, but look at the list of AP winners and tgere are some real scrubs on that list.... This year he is undefeated through some high profile injuries and some serious ****** up situations, and yet its been a series of guys who the media seems to leapfrog over him... he will get mentioned in the top 3, but they just keep cycling flavors of the week over him... miami, new orleans, KC, Arizona, Cleveland... all have gotten their coach more love than the Steelers

Or look at Ben... he cannot even get top two for comeback player of the year... much less mvp

Or TJWatt... yeah he gets love here and there, but nationally they seem to favor Donald or Garrett even though the guy missed a few weeks...

It goes back years... remember when Harrison won DPOY, those national nitwits were pushing so hard for Demarcus ware and many were so ****** when Harrison won...
Likewise when Troy won it... a significant amount of the media alluded that Clay Matthews was robbed

The Steelers have had some success with DPOY, but outside of Bradshaw, no Steelers player has won MVP and none has ever won OPOY... the only Coach of the year winner was Cowher in 92, his first season

Thats right... chuck knox won 3, but noll never did.....

The AP just hates this franchise badly...

This one is a bit mysterious. The media seems to love Tomlin outside of the clowns who wanted the hot takes that he couldn't control his locker room. Hard to get a read why they never give him any consideration.

They flat out don't like Ben. There's no other explanation and you can look no further that he didn't win Super Bowl 43 MVP. Any other QB in the history of football wins the MVP of that game.

For some reason he is still overshadowed by his brother. Watt isn't just one of the best defenders in the NFL, he's a top 10 player right now and I don't think people realize how great he is. Watt is legitimately the best player on the field every week.

Ben played in era with Manning/Brady at the peak of their rivalry.

Heck Rivers, Ben, Eli all have similar career numbers, in the 5th-8th All Time in many categories ... all 3 kinda got the same underwhelming recognition

Please don’t even try and say Cam Newton or Lamar Jackson were better QBs than any of the 3 despite their MVPs

The AP has called the NFL race for the Chiefs. Robust safeguards help ensure the integrity of whatever the media tells you.

Tomlin has a hard time winning because he is on a team with a long history of winning. It makes it hard for his accomplishments to stand out. On the other hand, if you take a Kevin Stefansko or Brian Flores who literally takes a team from competing for the first round draft pick to playoff contention, Tomlin’s achieveMental pale in comparison.

If you take first place all the time it becomes normal so as when you do take first place, most expect it and no big deal. Take Cleveland bottom feeder top 5 pick for years suddenly makes the play offs....... Well that GROUND BREAKING news, even if they barely slip in.
