So Tyrod Taylor is sacked and his helmet is askew as he gets up from under the pile. He was not hit in the head, although his helmet did make contact with tacklers as will happen on most tackles. Predictably after the media menstrual cycle over Cam Newton last week, the ref was quick to pull a QB from the game and no doubt earn a gold star from Goodell.

Taylor was clearly OK but was forced to sit out 2 plays yelling at Doctors that he was OK. This will no doubt result in the media heaping praise on the ref and wiping away their own self imposed guilt over watching such a savage game.

Of course, it's all just for show, but that's fine because the outrage is just for show as well.

Who will be the first team to lose when their QB gets pulled during the last drive of the game? Standing on the sidelines for 2 or 3 plays and watching his backup thriw the game ending INT just as the Doc tells him he's fine to go back in the game.

Ben never gets roughing calls. He gets his nose broken, and nary a flag. Who is going to expect a ref EVER pulling Ben for not being tough?

I think he was out for a second or two when he hit the ground. He certainly was motionless.

In which era would Ben Rothlesberger not be tough enough????? Today's rules are financial based rules. Yes, obviously some are there for a reason, but the ones we don't like are the ones I'm talking about. Based on ways to control the game.

Salute the nation

I Think the first team to loose because of a starting qb being pulled will be playing the cheatriots

Tyrod ******* Taylor. Not exactly a Mensa candidate.

First LOL at the gold star. Second, I would say whoever the NFL wants to lose for a better playoff match up.

I know. It's open season on him. If a team has their QB removed late in a game for a play or two, they can always run the ball once then call a time out.

They are just giving defenses a bigger reason to hit a QB in the head!

If you know a key player will be forced to leave the game, and you probably won’t even get flagged for a hit, and your chances to win increase dramatically with a 2nd string qb in, why wouldn’t you target the head?

While I see the point you're trying to make, what exactly is stopping defenders from doing that anyway? If these guys wanted to take a shot at a starting qb in order to get the second stringer on the field, this new rule or whatever you wanna call it isn't preventing guys from doing that now. A defender would face the same repercussions with or without this in place.

Taylor was OUT for those couple seconds. The refs actually did the right thing because he was totally unresponsive at the bottom of that pile.

I didnt see that at all. I saw Tyrod not moving because 3 guys were on top of him. As soon as they got off of him, he got right up. No stumbles, no swaying. I dont think you go from unconscious to completely alert in a few seconds.

Would be nice if the officials would be fined for not calling hits high on QB's period. Now they have the right to take them out of game. This is the same league that fines a dance and shoes more than late hits. I guess we should not expect some kind of common sense when it comes to rules of the NFL.

I don't know, man. When his right shoulder hit the turf, he was motionless. At least, that's how it looked. He didn't move until one of his olineman grabbed him and flipped him over to try and get him up.

The refs are making doctor decisions, could increase the number of sit outs by a factor of 100 - what do they know?

This rule creates a cheatable situation at the end of a games. Now a defensive player can take make a late hit or high hit to have the QB taken from the game for review, during a game winning drive situation. You will see it happen this year, and I expect Burfict to be the guy that does it.
