In light of Jerome Bettis' induction last night and his mention of future teammates who will be up for consideration (Faneca, Ward, Polamalu, Porter, Roethlisberger), who gets your Hall of Fame vote? Even though he didn't mention them by name, I am also going to add a few names to the list.

A.) you left Hampton off this list, who will have a real shot.

B.) Ben, Ward, Troy, and Harrison are locks at this point... they have the rep, stats, and awards to make it.
C.) Faneca will make it, but guards take a while
D.) Cowher has the stats, but im not sure the one super bowl win is enough, though he will get the media bump for being in the national media so long.
E.) Smith will likely have to wait till the Veterans committee to see where he stands, since he was the best 3/4 end of his era, and one of the best ever, but they have the stats of an olineman, more or less...
F.) Porter has a punchers chance... he was at one point the best olb in the game and had national reputation, earning several major magazine cover stories. I think of him as Lloyd with charisma.
G. Farrior should be in... I will champion his case till I cannot anymore. He was the leader of arguably the best defense in that whole era. His stats are just a shade behind Lewis, who is a surefire lock and who stole his thunder and pro bowl spots when they only selected 1 ILB to the team...
H.) Hampton will certainly get some serious looks from the veteran committee. like smith he was one of the best ever at his position, but 3/4 linemen just don't have the glamour stats to catch the press's eye... its unlikely that a defense with that kind of dominant decade+ run gets only one or two guys in though...

I really badly want Harrison in there but I am not sure he will make it. I think he should be there but he might be my favorite all time Steeler.

Ben and Troy are in for sure.

Hines should be in but I think he will have to wait a while and that will only hurt his chances even more.

Your list is very deep madinsomniac. It's Troy, Ben, Ward and possibly Faneca / Harrison. The rest of those guys should get acknowledged by the team. Smith and Hampton were great players but the hall is so selective they would never take someone without any stats. Same goes for Potsy. Great player of course. But you have to be a generational player to be in the HOF. Those guys aren't close. Sorry.

It is hard to say who will but I would actually like to see all of them in there because of what they meant to the team. One could make a convincing argument for all of them. Faneca was the best guard of his era. Ben is a great qb. Hines was one of the best to play the game and the only wide out that scared defenders. James H and Troy P defensive players of the year and game changers. Aaron Smith was the best lineman on a really great line and was the glue that held the defense together. Farrior is likely the Best inside linebacker not involved in a stabbing. Joey Porter 98 sacks and now a good coach it seems. Bill Cowher, got a team to the playoffs that was not winning and took it to a superbowl with out a good qb who cost them the game, rebuilt the team and did it again but won it with a good qb who was still learning the game at that point in his career.

Might not have any of them in the hall but a legitimate argument can be made for all of them.

Ben and Troy are probably first ballot.
Hines Ward won't be first ballot, like with Bettis there will be a log jam of other deserving players at the same position, but he might make it in eventually.
Harrison and Faneca while deserving might take a lot longer if ever, I doubt it.

Porter, Farrior, Smith I doubt get in. Smith might get a few votes through the process.

Cowher, will be interesting...Tony Dungy didn't get in first ballot but I'd bet he does get in eventually.
Heck Jimmy Johnson didn't make it first ballot.

Here was the list for the 2015 modern era nominees...a ton of deserving guys at some of those positions

Ben and Troy for sure. I wonder if Greene will choose to go in as a steeler . . .

Ward is my fav steeler of all time but i think he will have a hard time getting in because the HOF voters like stats more than anything. They will argue that he never led the league in rcpts or yards. They will note he did not garner many PB/AP selections. They will overlook his 1000 rcpts, 2 Super Bowl rings, 1 SB MVP and the fact that he was the best modern-era blocking WR whose play led to the rules of the game being changed.

Faneca should get in but he might have to wait a few years.

All of the rest listed above are deserving IMO but I'm doubtful they ever make it. Other than Ben, Troy and Hines my wish is that Shell and Greenwood would get in before anyone else on this list.

Ben, Troy, and Hines are locks. Harrison and Smith maybe at some point, veterans committee maybe, but no time soon. For three seasons there was no better LB in the game but his career stats aren't all that. Upsides, he was DPOY and owns the longest TD in a Super Bowl. Cowher has a great overall record but also a bunch of AFCCG losses and it kinda matters how much they quietly weigh the fact that two of them were to the Cheating Bastiges From New England.

Troy is a lock, Ben is more than on his way with the offense being more pass heavy. Faneca may be worthy, but Guards get little love for the Hall. As much as I loved Hines Ward as a football player, he was one of the best blockers I've seen and he was willing to do anything to win. I just don't think he has numbers that will add up with the new era of football. If he ever gets in it will be after a long wait, or a vets committee vote. I don't think the others have a chance, even Cowher unfortunately.

Only Ben, Polamalu and Faneca are locks -- Ben and Troy are likely 1st ballot -- Plus Ben's story is not nearly finished.

Faneca is def in - but as a Guard it will take the right year.

Hines will likely get in -- but it won't happen for at least a decade on waitin list and then with right class

Hines.....Forget all statistical comparisons and numbers.
86 couldve played in any era of the game.
Rules were created and unofficially named after him.
Isn't the hall of fame is about the best of the best?
Best total receiver ever.

Hines problems getting in:
Logjam at WR
Stats that are getting ridiculous each passing year
Anti-Steeler voters (Cowboys Rich Goesslin for example)
Under appreciation for his body of work

You know what, one thing that might put Hines above his other contemporaries...is he the only one to have a SB ring? And an SB MVP?

Faneca, Ben, Troy, & Hines. Hines will take some time like Jerome did but the argument for will be tough to pass up. Having two rings and a SB MVP trophy to go with 1,000 catches for a predominantly rushing franchise at the time as well as having a rule changed in his honor will get the voters attention.

Faneca should go in after a few years. Ben's journey is still being written, but he can only enhance his position with the numbers he puts up. Troy should be a no brainer. They may argue about his numbers and with Ed Reed leaving the game at the same time they may cancel each other out or go in at the same time.

Farrior, Porter, Aaron Smith, all Hall of very good but not HOF in my opinion. Porter has great sack totals and if he does get in it will be because of that.

Picked Hines in this poll, but I'd put the trio of Ben, Hines and Troy in the hall.

Some of you are being a little homerish:

Troy- definitely, probably 1st ballot
Ben- Probably- but not 1st ballot
Hines- 50/50
Harrison- <25% at best
Alan Faneca- <25%

The others basically have no shot.

Cowher: not likely though if he keeps it up with the media, he might. I think he did just enough.

Alan Faneca: Yes, but it will take a while. He was a guard.

James Farrior - slim chance

James Harrison - Not likely Needs 2 more good years

Troy Polamalu - A lock.

Joey Porter - Not likely though he has some #'s

Ben Roethlisberger - A lock

Aaron Smith - Slim chance

Hines Ward - Yes, but he's going to have to wait a while

Dri Archer will make the Hall of Fame.

He's already on the short list.

Agree with this 100%

I think Cowher might come back and eventually get in as well.

I don't think Hines is a lock by any stretch of the imagination. Moss, Owens, Harrison and a like from his generation will get the first look so there will be a wait. Then you'll get the likes of Megatron, Fitz coming up in the next few years. He's worthy but it could be a long wait.

Just look at this years class, Mick Tingelhoff had to wait 37 years and the guy was an iron horse and had numerous all pro seasons.
