As rookies:
Troy Aikman: 0-11, 9 TD, 18 INT
John Elway: 4-6, 7 TD, 14 INT (Trivia Question - John Elway's first sack in the NFL was by what Hall of Famer?)
Terry Bradshaw: 3-5, 6 TD, 24 INT
Peyton Manning: 3-13, 26 TD, 28 INT
Eli Manning: 1-6, 6 TD, 9 INT
Alex Smith: 2-5, 1 TD, 11 INT
Josh Allen: 5-6, 10 TD, 12 INT

I know his first game was against the Steelers in Pittsburgh in 1983. I will always remember that game. I was in high school and my little brother was 6 year younger than me. In the middle of the game all the sudden he comes in and sits next to me and I notice he is shaking. I'm watching he game and don't wanna be bothered but I thought I'd ask, "what's your problem?" He goes, "the shed is on fire!" He was out dicking around with little fireworks and caught the straw on fire my Dad had in there. I run out there...flames. Got the mowers out and gas cans, the neighbor had a hose over the fence. What a shiit show. But the whooping he took in the middle of the backyard. We still laugh about it.

The Steelers made the day better by losing the game after they pulled Elway and put in Steve DeBerg. The Steelers were starting Cliff Stoudt because of Bradshaw's elbow.

yes Lambert. If I recall Dunn had a good game . 2.5 sacks maybe? a winnable game.

Bigben 17 TD 11 INT with 66 percent completion percentage.

Is that the SAME kid who won 13 straight starts, regular season games as a rookie ?

I was thinking on that game a little this morning. The Steelers have taken so much heat from everywhere for not taking Marino. Rightfully so. But that was the first regular season game for Gabe Rivera. He didn't start, and didn't have a sack, but you could see he was gonna be a player. When he was in he was getting pressure and collapsing things, if I recall correctly.

That has spoiled an entire fan base and given unrealistic expectations to the next guy to follow Ben. Most likely the reason Mason was so villified.
Having a great OC that played to his strengths and drew up great route combinations and half field reads for the young QB didn’t hurt either…and yet somehow we still used more of the field than we currently do with this combo

Ben was one of a kind tho

Fun Fact: Elway sucked for air his first 10 seasons.

At first I thought you were speaking of Kordell Stewart, then I finished reading. I agree with you but even Kordell used more of the field than this dip-**** offense of O'Canada.

He definitely came in at the right time. Great defense,DL,OL and running game.

He did, but more importantly, he played to his level and accomplished what no one before had. Ben's play was outstanding for a rookie and yes, Cowher had the team (coaching staff to players) to back it up, something Coach Tomlin doesn't seem to have should the rookie Pickett get a start.

I would take Slash back right now in heart beat. He had the right skills to maybe make this **** offense look a lot better. At least until he got killed running.

I could give it a heave ho but probably more suited for O-line. 😝😬
