Ryan Shazier is one of the most athletic inside linebackers in NFL history. During the Week 13 matchup vs the Cincinnati Bengals, Shazier suffered a frightening spinal injury during a botched tackle attempt. Those who were present during his devastating injury witnessed an insane talent go down, and possibly never get back up. He was […]

It will always be what could have been unfortunately.

But he earned enough to always look back proudly of the time he did have.

Can't teach speed, and he had it in abundance.

He was our only playmaker last year. We need more this year. Hopefully the safeties can start making plays!

One of the most unfortunate events Ive witnessed since Ive started watching football as a kid. Game is evolving and undersized fast guys are flying around. I dont think you would see a guy like Williams make a tackle that way. Just really hope he gets as much of his mobility back as possible.

That the Steelers FO does a lousy job of drafting defense and when one of the few good players gets hurt, they're up **** creek without a paddle.

As much as I love Shazier, there is more than anecdotal evidence of him leading with his head. One could say it was only a matter of time. Hope he can live a normal life.

I agree 100%. And frankly it was a bit of a miracle that it never happened to Polamalu too. Flying a round the LOS and erasing guys in their tracks. There is only one way to do that. Knifing their legs out from under them. If you watch any tackle, everyone lowers their head some. Its friggen natural reaction like getting punched. Its a reflex. When you knife someones legs out it is so easy to become parallel to the ground and looking at the grass which puts you in that vulnerable position. You can absorb a **** load through your traps front to back, but literally nothing on the top of your head. And if anything the weight of the helmet increases the compression.

Legacy, not much. he needed a few more years.

I think I disagree. his legacy is what he will make out of his life after this is behind him.

LOL....it was asked what legacy has Shazier LEFT behind. I think he was spot on actually.

He is a linebacker for the Steelers LBs to look up to and say, I need to play like that guy, and be a playmaker.

anyone know what the asking price to move from our spot up to get Van Eshe?

yes. the asking price is a grand total of "irrelevant", now that we're 2 1/2 months past the draft.

His legacy as a player? Not much to say.
Truth is he still had a lot to offer, and like Slash said. More of a "what if"

His legacy as a human. Still a lot to live.
He's young, and has connections to thrive off of. His character, he'll no doubt leave a lasting impression somewhere

A lot like Kendrell Bell, he flashed greatness and it was over before it really started.

Very good comparison BUT where it differentiates is Bell was a better tackler IMO and Shazier was better in coverage. Not that either sucked in their lesser comparisons. And Bell didn't have a career ending injury. Although his injuries led to a early exit from the NFL...
