Seems we are overlooking a player we have on the roster. Spencer Anderson can play all 6 OL positions, so why not let him focus on one. I think he would make a very good left gaurd and be an asset there.

DK Sports Dailey Shot did a nice take on the subject this morning. Well worth the listen !!!

I’m guessing this has already been discussed at length on the north shore. Well, then you would need to find a new swing guy or guy for the jumbo and heavy stuff.

I think you'll find that Hoffman has not signed, after all (he denies it).

Lots of good OG prospects in this draft that should be brought in to compete with Anderson.
He's a restricted FA, he can't sign until 4 today with anyone. So technically he hasn't signed

Yeah, I think a draftee will be asked to compete with Anderson, which is probably the best plan. There are a number in the draft (maulers, unlike Anderson) that could probably beat him out for the position.

If we go veteran, I go for a one year rental, like Bitonio. I know he's old but he still plays at a high level. That said, I wouldn't pay more than $6M for a year of his services.

I wouldn’t write Spencer off to soon, that new rookie will have his hands full.

He excelled as 6th man when they brought him in, also in back up mode as well.

Not a bad plan. In fact, many of the ideas presented here are legit plans. Cool having options.

I would rather pick the next DeCastro or Faneca in the first round than work on a project.

If one of these guys is there at say pick 17/18, would you try to move up to get him? I would.

1. Olaivavega Ioane, Penn State, 6-4, 320 lbs. - Ioane is the best offensive lineman in this draft class regardless of position. Ioane just moves people-and loves doing so. Penn State really weaponized this killer blocker.

2. Emmanuel Pregnon, Oregon, 6-4, 314 lbs. - Another pure guard, Pregnon just bullies his opponent. Pregnon is a little on the older side but should also step right into a starting position with his new team. When Pregnon has his powerful hands on the opponent, it is usually over.

I thought RFA just meant that the current team has the option of making a better qualifying offer to retain. (?)

If he's restricted you have to give compensation dont you?
Only if his current team tenders him before the league year begins. Looks like he wasn't tendered so he should now be an unrestricted free agent. Also, because he was a restricted free agent the supposed Steelers offer couldn't have been made before 11 March (at least not within NFL rules) as only Dallas had the right to negotiate with him prior to the opening of free agency.

Depends on where they were drafted I believe
Depends on whether current team tenders him prior to free agency opening on 11 March, and if they do which tender they use. The only tender that depends on where they were drafted is the original round tender. Apart from that they can use a first round tender ($8m+), second round tender ($5.5m+) or right to match any offer which has no draft pick compensation.

I like Anderson & think if he does start he would probably do a reasonable job.

I look at the LG & LT positions as 'filled with the potential to upgrade' as we enter the draft.

Broderick Jones at LT might still work out. BUT. The addition of another high end LT to compete/replace him doesn't hurt the team. And this draft offers some really good depth at the position.

Anderson at LG is probably very serviceable. And it might be how the season starts. But there are a decent selection of good OG's in the draft that could, again, strengthen that position.

I think the left side of the OL & QB are now the top targets in the draft along with a 3rd/4th (depth chart) WR, 3rd/4th ILB & a 3rd/4th CB.

Versatile and played very well when called upon.

Definitely deserves to at least get a fair competition for the starting role.

Hard to not like a kid like that…rooting for him.

That said have to add a G at some point be it a pick or FA

I feel a lot better going into the season with Anderson at starting guard than I do Cook at starting LT. And with Walker now in Carolina, one of the top 3 picks is almost guaranteed to be an OT
