The annual NFL award show is tonight and the Pittsburgh Steelers*have a horse in the race for Defensive Player of the Year. The top three candidates are outside linebacker TJ Watt, defensive lineman Aaron Donald of the*Los Angeles Rams,*and cornerback*Xavien Howard* of the*Miami Dolphins. According to SportsBettingDime.com*, Watt is the odds on favorite at -180, […]

Watt absolutely ******* better win it. If not, it's fixed. There would just be no justification or explanation for Watt not winning it. He should win it easily.

i saw a poll of a bunch of 33 "experts" that was 15-14 for Aaron Donald with Howard getting a few votes too.
.
The Steelers 1-5 limpdick finish did not help Watt, nor did sitting for the last game.

Watt is deserving, but so is Donald.

I think Watt should win it, but will not be outraged if he doesn't.

How many Rams games did you watch in 2020?

Enough and Watt beat Donald easily in every statistical category and then some because Donald can't do everything Watt does. What rushes the passer, stops the run and drops into coverage. Donald does 2/3 of that and Watt still beat Donald in Donald's specialty areas. Watt ******* hands down should be DPOY.

Well, that's a load of ****. Not that I don't think Donald is an amazing player who I'd kill for him to be a Steeler, but Watt edged him out. This stuff I think is a little more political and biased than I figured

I hope he takes that feeling into next season and wrecks some folks. Make 'em pay TJ!

TJ Watt takes home the Deacon Jones Award ..........what
Moving forward it will be pronounced, "de can". I will use it in a sentence for clarification. Watt de can **** you out of the DPOY you were Jones--ing for and did.

Donald plays in the interior of the defense, while Watt plays on the edge, so you cannot strictly go by stats.

I can see the arguments both ways, but acting like the writers bent Watt over the table and took turns on him is a bit ridiculous.

I don't see the arguments both ways. Both were disruptive for their team. So then you do go by stats which was dominated across the board by Watt. TJ was the clear choice.

Then how did Gilmore win it over TJ last year? TJ has gotten screwed out of the award two years in a row now. Gilmore plays a different position and was awarded because he had more INTs and PDs.

I’m not sure what these idiots voting go off of but it’s not stats and it’s not position skill sets. I’m lost on what their criteria is.

Gilmore also did not allow a passing TD in 2019 and had the lowest passer rating against him of any DB in the league by a wide margin.

I think Watt has been deserving each of the past two years, but it's not like the guys who beat him out were not equally great.
