“I missed a lot of football,” Wheaton said.

hummmmmmmmmm the plot thickens !

Interesting. The article said that Tomlin held him out because he missed so much practice time. Cannot say I disagree with that decision. If the dude has not practiced, and is not ready to implement the game plan, then other players are a better option.

Wheaton has a shoulder.

Agree. It's not like some players that can do no practice and then play that we trust. It's funny I think we have a stable of WRs all we amazing talent. Some need to lay of the wacky, others get their hands right but certainly good group.

He practiced full Wed/Thur then was limited Friday. I'm sure part of it was he hasn't practiced at all.

Spike and 81 are right. He regressed and was benched. I guessed he'd be inactive, but hoped he'd play. He was out, and it was due to the way his practice time was trending, obviously...

We need him back, he knows the offense better than Coates and he and Ben work slot better in the no huddle. I think he'll make our offense that much better

He sounded like he could have played but the coaches made the decision. We'll see what happens this week. If he's not back, then the coaches are definitely holding him out.

He is the better route runner and more sure handed than Coates. I doubt Wheaton would be held out for any reason other than not being ready to endure a full game's worth of routes.

He is likely in his last year with us, no harm in getting the others reps and him fully healthy before returning.

Even though he practiced I openly stated I did not believe he would play. Shoulders are tricky and the last thing you want is your #2 receiver battling a shoulder injury from week 2 on because its only going to continue getting hit. I would say his chances of playing will increase each week. They may sit him one more week unless they feel he can handle taking hits on the shoulder. He also needs the reps in practice to get into game shape.

Coach T just said he's very optimistic Wheaton can play this week. Depends on his practice
