Several of the backups continue to flash. The Skipper kid has made big plays in every game. But who gets cut. Chickillo, Ola. I'm not sure I've ever seen the backups and guys below the cut line play this well. Tough decisions. Should be a pretty damn good PS.

With Sutton, Kelly and Hilton showing the ability to play both safety and CB we should be able to carry only 8 DBs and have room for Skipper and Gilbert.

Keep the Skipper!

He. just. makes. plays

Indeed he looks good but how much does the level of competition come into play. Remember how good Chickalo used to look in preseason? We got some up and coming talent that look like big time keepers right now...let's hope they are for real.

Chick looked good in preseason??? When??? LOL...

There are definitely some young bucks flashing on defense. I know historically they like to keep low priced veteran back ups and have them play special teams. The young kids could supplant a few veterans however.

With Ola injured we might Have To keep both chick (ST value) and skipper .

I also hope UGIII makes the team, he could make barron expendable next season

Finally Marcus Allen has shown more than Dangerfield during the three games in my opinion, maybe he gets the 4th S spot

You want to find a way to get a talented young guy on the roster. Do you risk putting a guy who can get to the QB on the practice squad?

The LBs have been fantastic.. here's my pecking order for them

-Watt
-Bush
-Williams
-Dupree
-Ola
-Barron
-Gilbert
-Dirty Red (somebody gotta play ST)
-Skipper
-Spillane
-Smith (we just haven't seen enough of him)

I hope we can keep them all down to Skipper honestly.. and I've been impressed with Spillane in spots as well. LOVING the LB's right now

I'm wondering if we have an OL that can play TE in a pinch so we can carry an extra LB?

Sutton Smith will make this team

What does he do that better players like Gilbert and Skipper can;t ? He is practice squad material, nothing more.

Lets be real...Chickillo NEVER looked this good his first preseason. He was addition by necessity and has stuck around ever since

Chick has never looked this good, period.

FWIW, ST snaps break down like this for the LBs:

15 Matakevich
15 Sutton Smith
13 Gilbert
12 Spillaine
3 Kunz
2 Elliot
0 Skipper

You make the team on ST. Looks like the team wants to stash Skipper on the PS.

Team will probably keep 9 LBs 6 DLs are a lock 6 CBs should be a lock, and 4 Safeties are a lock

My order?

-Watt
-Bush
-Barron
-Williams
-Dupree
-Ola
-Matakevich
-Gilbert
-Smith
-cut line-
-Skipper
-Chickillo
-Spillane

I don’t see anyway Sutton Smith makes the 53. He hasn’t done anything all training camp/preseason. He’ll be lucky to make PS.

Huh? Did you watch the last game? Guy was completely overwhelmed in the pass rush department.

Just realized I forgot Chick in my list but doesn’t matter I’d cut him honestly

Key ST contributor. Backup OLBer, NFL game experience.

These three things might roadblock the peeps that want to run Chickillo out of town............

I have Skipper over Sutton Smith, even though Smith has the 'skill versatility'...

IMHO, the 'best two OLBs' behind Watt and Dupree are Ola and Skipper. Again, this is my opinion...

Ola is likely a PUP candidate with his injury. Buys the team time to dress someone who can practice and play.

Agreed - it’s not an easy decision, but the game experience doesn’t sway me much since it’s always been pretty pedestrian. But being a key ST contributor will save him
