It's something we have done in the past but not very much. Personally if their was a draft I would be all for trading down and acquiring more draft picks it would be this one. We have so many needs and and not a lot of cash. Plus we can get some really good value in the 3rd & 4th rounds. I would be completely fine with trading down in the 1st to pick up another 2nd or 3rd. Or even trading down a couple times to get multiple 2nds and 3rds. This team is more than one or a couple players away and would love to get some great talent on the team to develop for years to come.

We need starters this year. I can't see us trading down at all. I can see us trading up in round 1 or 2 depending on who they are eyeing. I've mentioned my thoughts several times. I take the best RB or OL in round 1 at 24 that is starter material and then I trade up in round 2 to get another starter (whichever we didn't get between RB and OL in round 1) even if it costs us our 2022 3rd round pick. I don't trade any picks from this year.

Y'all are going to be mad when they pick Zaven Collins (LB, Tulsa) in the first round, a tackle in the second and wait until the 3rd round to pick a RB. Not what I would do; or even advocate they do. But, I think it's something they might seriously look at doing given how the LB corp went to crap when Bush and then Spillane went down last year. Plus, Bush and Collins is potentially waaaay better than Bush and Spillane.

**** NO

I wouldn't be mad if they did that at all. Owusu-Koramoah from Notre Dame is another defender who'd they have to consider if he's there.

As far as trading down goes, if you think you can get your guy a few spots down and pick up a third in the process, sure. No way do I trade out of the first and lose the fifth-year option on my top pick. The Steelers need good players more than they need a quantity of players.

They need a LT,C.RB.CB and depth at DT. OLBer, and ILBer and S and that isn't even covering QB if they address that if the value is there.

The needs outweigh the available picks.

Trade up possibilities are in 1 LT or QB. In 2 RB.

So an argument can be made for either or...... trading up or down.

So we can’t find starters outside the 1st? Didn't do too bad with last year and years in the past finding guys to step in their rookie year. Nobody honestly is going to step in and be the Savior of this team. We have too many holes to fill. I'm just suggesting trading down in the 1st to maybe pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd and draft a guy like Etienne who could still be their late 1st or grab a guy like Creed Humphrey and draft Williams or Gainwell in the 2nd and you potentially could draft another WR from USC guy in the 2nd to replace Juju next year. They could even grab a McGrone in the 3rd with that pick who would look nice next to Bush.

Heck with another 2nd or 3rd in your pocket then you could take a Collins in the 1st if available or Moehrig who could step in and play Hiltons spot and take over for Edmunds next year. Moehrig is a guy who can play multiple positions and is similar to Darnell Savage IMO.

Yeah they have shown interest in Moe too. With strength at T deep and with a boatload of needs it would not be a surprise to see them trade down if they could get value.

Unless a player you didn’t expect to be there drops to you, I’m always in favor of trading down. Everyone is mostly wrong in the draft. EVERYONE. Even when they are “right” they’re still wrong and in hindsight, there will be players they wish they would have drafted instead. It’s best to stockpile and increase your chances in the crapshoot.

If they spend above 5th round on another WR after keeping juju I'm gonna be pissed off. Too many needs in other spots, or are they drafting WRs to play T, C, RB, S, OLB, ILB, TE?

If Harris or Etienne are there at 24, you must take one of them. If not, take best tackle and hope Javonte Williams is there in the 2nd round. Beyond that, Gainwell or Hubbard in the 3rd....

I hear you but with Juju possibly leaving and Washington an UFA then we are down to Johnson and Claypool. I really like Amon-Ra St. Brown in the 2nd or 3rd but with that being said I could see an Amari in round 4.

If the right LT is there in round one you TAKE him. Myself, I think LT is the single biggest need on the team. I realize there are several other needs and you don't just draft a LT to be drafting one. Hell it could be felt that Chuks and Banner are our starting book ends (heaven forbid) and may not see LT as the priority. I just hope whomever they draft at 1.24 is a step right in starter, same for rnd 2.

i am starting to think big al is going to sign for another year. not the best option, but an option

Villanueva is a significantly better option at LT than Banner, which has been floated around.
Depends on which Villanueva you're getting. Unfortunately, I think you'd be getting the one from the last couple of years. The one whose troubles with speed or "bendy" pass rushers and in run blocking were exposed. That's no bueno.

Hard to pick what is our biggest need. With Hilton and Nelson probably gone our secondary is not looking too good especially depth wise. The Oline is still a mess and going to be hard to fix even through the draft. Al has been bad the last couple yrs and he is definitely not the answer. We need to find some diamonds in the rough or hope the new OL coach can work miracles. We have very little depth defensively at most positions. If we have a couple injuries the season could get ugly fast. I would not pick a RB in round 1 or 2 just too many crucial needs to fill first. As for trading down I wouldnt trade out of rnd 1 and I just dont see us gaining much. Trading up would be fine, but we just have so many needs I dont think getting one great player is worth losing potentially 2 other starters.

None of the top 3 RB's will be there when we pick in the 2nd round. If we don't take one in the 1st, they must trade up in the 2nd to get one. RB and OL are still our biggest needs. And, whoever asked, yes, it's possible you can get starters after the 2nd round but the chance of them starting this year is very slim and there is a much higher chance of them being a bust than a starter. If we don't get our starting RB in rounds 1 or 2, then don't draft one. It's a waste of a pick. We haven't shown recently an ability to draft RB talent just like CB talent. Conner was OK. Snell is a little below that. Samuels about the same. And McFarland, who knows. What we do know is we do not have a starting running back or tandem on the team right now.

DO NOT bring back Big Al. Dude was losing it 2 years ago and was one of the worst players on the field week in and week out last year. Go with a draft pick over him or a younger, cheaper FA that won't cost way over $10 million per season (not sure what they were smoking to evaluate him at $15 million per.).

I am all for trading down, We have so many holes to fill. Everyone says this is the deepest oline draft in years. I do not follow college football so I tend to rely on you guys for my information on the draft.

But we will probably do the usual. Sprint to the stage when it is our turn to pick.

We've traded down in the draft (1st round) 2x. It might have indirectly cost us a Super Bowl in 1990 letting the Cowboys get Emmitt Smith.

I'm more about trading up, but this year with Ben in final season, I'd be inclined to hold onto picks.

Depends on who is still on the board. Trading back usually happens when a team either 1) does not like who is left and does not view them as 1st round talents or, 2) has multiple players they like and the trade will give them extra picks while still having the opportunity to get one of those players a few picks later. Unfortunately this franchise has a habit of just running up with their pick card with the next player on their rating chart wether he be a 1st round or 3rd round talent.

Exactly if you have a franchise QB or LT sitting there you take them. If not I think you move down or up. Not opposed to either as long as they are getting that LT or that QB.
