NFL.com's Bucky Brooks ranked the best QBs and two things stand out:

1). BIG BEN IS #2 ON THE LIST.

About damn time. Now go win us #7.

5) Tom Brady, New England Patriots*

His name, and team is listed WITH THE ASTERISK next to it!!! ON NFL.COM. And there is no * note anywhere on the page.

With Manning in his last season ( I think ) and Brady tarnished for cheating and older too, Ben's getting some respect. In 2017, he could be #1 on the list, depending on how luck improves or regresses.

5) Tom Brady, New England Patriots*

Despite being a proven winner (four titles, six total Super Bowl appearances) and one of the NFL's ultimate clutch performers (46 game-winning drives in his 15-year career), Brady's standing on this list is a reflection of the stench emanating from the Deflategate scandal (hence the asterisk). The controversy adds to the notion that the Patriots' long-term success has been fueled by various misdeeds. While there isn't a proven correlation between deflated footballs and Brady's on-field performance, the fact that another scandal is hovering over the Patriots certainly clouds the evaluation.

Statistically speaking, Brady remains one of the top players at the position, posting a passer rating of 97.4 and a 33:9 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season. He continues to pick apart defenses with exceptional precision, albeit in "dink and dunk" fashion (see: Brady's 7.1 yards-per-attempt mark in 2014). Granted, the Patriots' title run was truly sparked by a defense that played at a championship level for most of the season, but it was Brady's solid play in key moments that ultimately helped secure the crown. Brady remains one of the elites at the position, even as he's settling in as the NFL's ultimate game manager in the twilight of his career.

As a German I would like some explanation concerning the *. What is the exact meaning in the example of the cheatriots? It's obviously to show that they cheated, but this isn't the way it's used here.
Let's say someone isreading "Patriots *" without knowing about spy- and deflategate. Would they assume they just cheated, or won by cheating...or what ?
Cheers

They've been doing a top 10 QB list all week, about four different analysts have done it so far. I think Ben has been ranked #3 by every analyst. Man is finally getting his due in the media.

Interesting. How many Lombardis do we get for his high ranking?

Whats that? None?

Then who gives a F*%$?

Bucky Brooks is a buffoon. This is the only good thing he's ever done.

Rankings don't mean squat, but it's nice when your guy is up there,....!!!!

Salute the nation
