Top 5 steelers per position, the Tight Ends. This one can get interesting as we have had too many top-level tight ends. Spots 4 and 5 are up for grabs! Same rules 1970-present

1 ) Miller - One of the best all round run blocking, pass blocking, pass catching and clutch hands in the history of the NFL

2 ) Green - A great talent, lack of character, desire, and drugs sunk his career.

3 ) Cunningham - A massive guy, good as a blocker, not used as often as a receiver

4 ) Bruener - A blue collar player, solid run blocker.

5 ) Grossman - Good pass catcher, best known for the super bowl TD catch

GREAT list coach, and yes MILLER deservingly so, at the top. Green brought a whole new dimension to the TE world. HUGE guy with speed, freak like ability, but short lived. Now Bruener on the other hand was probably the toughest pound for pound TE out there. He may not of looked the part but he was VERY strong. Cunningham of coarse had his "big" moments yet wasn't in the passing era. I'm dang sure glad to have been able to watch this list play for our beloved steelers.

Salute the nation

I honestly can't argue with that list.

We've been blessed to have a group of TE's that really pretty much completely fit precisely what we try to do on offense. We're kind of just starting to go in a new direction now. I'm interested in seeing how THAT goes.

Order is fine, but I don't think it's accurate to say those things "sunk his career." of Green. I'd say more like the "diminished his career."

9 seasons, 4,390 yds, and 36 TDs would not be a career described as "sunk." Also, within the description of why he didn't even offer more production is he played fat. He was simply too heavy for max production. Had he played 25 lbs lighter, he would probably be in the Hall.

But his talent was so enormous that he still put up pretty impressive #s. He had 7 TDs as a rookie in Pgh. Cunningham was nearly as big, but they just didn't throw to the TE very much. Bruener was overrated, period. Every single telecast they had to mention that he was such a good blocker, because that was about all he was good for. They took him when Derrick Brooks, Shawn King, Zach Weigert were still on the board.

Green would have been an absolute monster. He had Gronk skills and he used his body to shield the defender so well. Heath is the best and it isn't close. Bruner would be higher but Stewart and most of those guys he played with were stiffs and couldn't run progressions to get to the TE. Those are the only notable TE's in my memory.

My top two TE's from my memory are Miller and Bruener.

In between I remember guys like Tuman, Reimersma. Other than that the TE position was all HEEAATTHH

We've not had a large number of really good TE's. I'd swap a few places in the list
1. Miller
2. Bruener
3. Green
4. Cunningham
5. Grossman
