Tomlins explanation of the game plan????

Roethlisberger did dive into football talk when asked about his playmakers' desire for more work during games.
"Everyone wants the ball," Roethlisberger said. "That's what got people to this level, their desire, their abilities. As guys grow in their roles and understand the NFL and understanding defenses and looks and reads and things like that, I think guys understand when it's a good look, when it's not. Last week they had eight and nine guys in the box; not a good week to run the ball. You could try and force it at times but it's just not there. Sometimes the way the game's flowing dictates how a ball is distributed and whatnot. I'm not really worried about guys complaining about wanting the ball. We've got a lot of guys who can make plays for us. We just need to make them."

Never mind that Bell said that the game plan never was to rely on the running game. Even before the Jags supposedly loaded the box, we had no game plan to attack the worst rushing defense in the league.

Again, is this one of those times we DO listen to what the player says? Bell also says he is worth $15m or $17m and all weve heard all offsets on is how stupid he must be to think that.....

Well how much he's worth or thinks he's worth is an opinion.
Facts are we threw more than twice as much as we ran vs the worst rush defense in the nfl in the first half

You might have a point if the jags didnt load the box. But they did making what the game plan was a moot point. What you would of rather they had tried to run into their 8 and 9 man fronts all game. Now see the difference is I wouldnt of bitched after if it didnt work. I feel we have the line and back to be patient with the run game to wear teams down. But how much you want to bet that the game thread and post game thread would of been about how dumb the coaches were for running when the Jags stacked the line of scrimmage..why didnt they pass.

Here is what any logical person wants to hear, That we realized that the Jaguars have had issues defending the running game all year as we prepared during the week. We wanted to exploit that by relying on L. Bell to pound away at wear them down. Unfortunately they came out and loaded the box which forced us to have to adjust accordingly.

Again, having to adjust your strategy is a lot different than never planning to exploit a weak Jags rushing defense.

Teams that have bad run defenses usually stack the box, but teams still run all over them, that's what makes them bad run defenses. I guess we shouldn't have been trying to throw vs 7 man coverages because we are out manned?

The redzone failures were huge - especially the one coming out after the half. If we score a TD there or on any of the other two, I think we end up winning the game easily. Getting TD's changes the whole dynamic of the game. Somehow, they must figure out how to score TD's in the redzone on a consistent basis. They practice it so much, you'd think they'd be good at it by now.

The point is, we are told on this very site, that you can't believe what a coach or player says to the media......but in this case (and ANY other case where it might reflect badly on Tomlin) people here eat it like it is ice cream.

When we did run we were getting a measly 3.1 ypc in the first half. The OL wasn't getting it done vs that ****** run D. Maybe that would have changed at some point, but it didn't appear to be happening.

This was something that is able to proved as false, he used the two pick 6's and 8 min jag drive as the reason we were pass heavy, but that all happened in the second half, we still threw 23 or whatever times to 8 or 9 carries by Bell, he said the first half would be better to look at to see what they wanted to do.

If you read the play by play penalties, down and distance and usage of the no huddle were also a factor

The point is Tomlin abandoned the run too early and saying the two pick 6s and 8 min drive was the reason for being pass heavy is just plain stupid. Is he just stupid or does he have issues with comprehension. This is getting downright embarrassing. He benches Rogers for two games because he fumbles a punt but yet Brown shows total disrespect for the team and his off. coord. but nothing. I won’t even mention the two ridiculous challenges.
Who the **** is this guy? I still cannot believe the Rooney’s got taken by a smooth talker. Unbelievable!

Probably not the best idea to bench the only offensive player to show up this year. Not to mention that his outburst has been the only signs of life by any offensive player thus far.

Of course! Gotta make sure Brown gets his stats. Screw that thing called team chemistry and teamwork and doing what’s best for the team.
There we were, winning in Baltimore a tough place for us but rather than Tony Brown being happy for the team and doing whatever it takes, he throws a temper tantrum. That spoke volumes to me about the selfish Tony Brown.

Then you shake things up and rotate Ju Ju outside with Bryant and put Eli in at slot.
Another problem with this team is predictability on offense. Geez! They used crossing routes the two prior games and guess what? The ******* Jags do watch film so they sit there right in those zones waiting on those routes.
These two idiots Haley and Tomlin who just can’t seem to understand game planning, not being predictable and making adjustments when stuff isn’t working.

yeah I wouldn't mind if they send Haley packing if he doesn't show any kind of improvement in that regard

I just refuse to lay this all at the feet of Ben. It seems to me that these two mental midgets are setting him up to fail.

I’ll tell you this much my friend. God help us when Ben retires. It’s going to get real ugly around here when the losing starts since we’ve been spoiled for a long time.
I can only imagine what Tomlin will parade in here to replace Ben.

Mike Vick?

Meh...my level of concern about this has fallen through the floor. What we are seeing from Ben this year (for whatever reason) isn't that far removed from quarterback x. The next guy could be worse than what we are getting right now, but I don't feel it's a stretch at all to suggest that he could be better.

Yes, winning by a huge 3-0 score. Perhaps Brown was upset about missing the sure touchdown as Ben threw an incompletion on a 3rd down? In a game vs an opponent where games are decided by mere points? No? Doesn't fit the narrative?
