Tomlin throws the Tight Ends under the bus "Not consistently varsity enough."

WOW.

For openers, Varsity is for colleges and high school sports. These men are professional athletes.

It's been some time since "hell was unleashed ", but my guess is Tomlin didn't win any friends among the players by making this statement.

The focus should be on football, not twitter like statements. The good news is outside of James, who's really the 2nd type of TE, the other players aren't very good.

Already was stated in another thread. Try keeping up.

this whole thread is chock full of ****

dammit they never listen, don't they know who I am?

Your last sentence nullifies your whole "argument".

Wouldn't trading for a #1 TE be enough evidence that he's thrown them under the bus?

Yes that is right...they are professional athletes, grown men, being told their execution hasn't met the standard required after several weeks of training camp and exhibition games. Therefore, you find someone who will perform as required, Hence the trade, which is basically a trade with <15 slots between them. The fact that the player immediately improves the position solves a glaring need. If only the CB position can been upgraded this way.....

No different in the real world....can't do the job, nothing personal, we replace you with someone who can.

they had a huge chance, didn't grab it by the horns. At least they had the opportunity to get a starting spot in an NFL team, few can say that

What did Tomlin say that was untrue? TE is the weakest position on offense.

To bad Tomlin doesn't speak in these words for the secondary. To bad after three games he isn't in any of the secondary faces. Just typical.

he is in their faces, it is called they have heard already we are interested in Haden.

That should be enough to get every CB not named Burns attention.

What does Tomlin think he is doing? These are grown men...not high school kids. Hopefully Bryant doesn't talk with our TE's. Now I see we just signed Haden. There Tomlin goes and steps on more players toes. Tomlin probably lost most off the team with these last couple of moves. Grown men Tomlin. Grown men.

On a side note. I think the whole CB's being disrespected by the Haden signing deserves it's own disrespect thread Coach. Make it happen!!!

Pretty sure when he said varsity he was implying they were not starting caliber players with the effort and commit to get better and it's showing at practice and preseason in general. It also stands to reason he put it out on twitter since they all are twitter savvy and follow him. Also they are recent collage players so it relates to them better. Did you really need to start a new post for someone like me the explain that to you?

Nobody at the position was standing out in a good way. Both James and Grimble were following the "Catch one, drop one" sequence the entire pre season. That's not going to cut it. When you factor in that neither one of them is an explosive athlete, it's definitely not going to cut it. They needed to upgrade.
