Tomlin Press Conference in Shorthand

Positive plays with Jessie James.

Good in 4min offense. O kept possession to win the game at the end. Put the fire out!

Highly penalized. Kills drives and balance. reduces snaps - 55 snaps

Ben and AB delivered and converted some 3rd downs and flipped the field. Big plays at halftime and end of game.

Defense mimimized the run. Crowell went for 115yds last time. Great adjustments of stopping the run.

Penalties on D were bad as well, on possession downs. Tough to play hard and smart. We'll work hard to fix that.

ST were great. Blocked punt and coverage teams did well.

Minnesota is talented: blah blah blah...

Good fundamentals, play hard and run to the ball on D

Playing a 4-3 team, tougher to run.

O: Sam Bradford 70% last year 80% last night not surprising.

Rudolph at TE big/ Athletic player.

Cook, great runner. Inside and outside. Not just a perimeter player.

Injuries:

Tuitt - bicep is NOT season ending. Evaluated yesterday. Day to day/ week to week. Leave the light on this week for possibly playing

Wilcox - in Concussion Protocol.

Sacks: Got them with pressure AND coverage. Great mix of pressure of 3/4/5+ rushers.

Hayden and Burns in man coverage? Both guys above the line. LOL...

Tuitt can play this week? Yes it's possible.

Penalties? Don't get pre-snap penalties to get better technically. Get better each work and get more consistent and will play cleaner footballs. Won't overreact, keep working and penalties will drop.

Bell in camp an issue? Mike bit the head off of the reporter and said it's not an issue, he's here now.

Upset with calling the gay penalty off the jumbo tron

Doesn't play social media game.

Browns front were they stopping the run? Penalties hurt the balance. Puts in predictiable circumstances, and gives the D an advantage. Williams has formadable schemes.

Bell needs to get better and he will.

Having Hayden gives D more time to make pressure: MT deflects that the entire D is doing well.

Bud Dupree? Missed time in preseason. Practice will determine Bud playing on Sunday.

Chick did a great job. Tyson as well.

Hilton sat out the 2nd half: Just dividing the snaps between he and Gay and will conintue to use them both.

Bryant helping a bit, knocking off rust.

Jessie James still the same guys and natural competitor. Not surprised by him.

Competitioin committee:

When player bobbles a ball, changing the strike zone for the defender?

No WR is in a defenseless position. It's on the D to hit the correct strike zone.

Kizer slid late? Ryan thought wrong. (It's on Shazy)

Kizer's accuracy? Defense and first game

Hayden: Joe did a nice job, fit in quick, and knows what to do. He did produce one sack.

Crackback?

Chop block, high low at the same time.

Min Coaching experience: Brad Childress did a great job of letting me in while he was a first time HC, and aided my growth to be prepared for my job in PIT.

Hilton sat out the 2nd half: Just dividing the snaps between he and Gay and will conintue to use them both.

sounds like neither has won a job
