Yeah. I just don't see our running to be as good as you are hoping. Maybe if Ben is doing his thing it will open up the running game. I do get what you are saying though. And as for those numbers (200 yds per game)...that is what Mason average last season.

LOL. Sure it is a winning number.....only if they are well-placed yards though. As far as the running game. I don't think our run blocking is that good. Our line didn't improve. So hence our running game I don't see as being the focal point of our offense. I very well could be wrong. Again I will repeat what I said in the post I was originally quoted in. If Ben still can make the throws he made in the past, it would be stupid to limit him in the offense. And targeting a set number of yards(even if they are well-placed) is just that. Stupid.

Not sure what our run blocking is. Steelers will see probably two new starters on that Oline. With the weakest link gone it could very well improve, as it could very well struggle. It is a wait and see obviously. Pouncey and DeCastro are run blocking capable. So reasonable to think between Feiler, Big Dot and Wis that one will emerge at least adequately. I am more concerned with the moving pieces that the pass blocking could suffer early as a result of the shuffle. With a QB coming off injury you would like stability in that area. So for me the pass blocking is every bit of a concern as is the run blocking. Sarrett better have them ready and early as how this Oline goes more than likely will determine just how good of a season the Steeler has if it lasts the duration. I say this with thinking minus some depth concerns the roster is stocked with enough talent to get the job done, as long as the team remains relatively healthy mixed in with the Oline doing its job.

Wow, I read that statement totally different than everyone else. To me it sounded like a sarcastic joke that he was just needling Ben. I doubt seriously he would be saying something like that if he really thought there was any concern.
 
As for the running game, I like Conner, but I think he runs "dangerously". He tends to fight for the extra yards and either initiate contact or put himself in a position to take a bruising hit rather than just live to die another day. That's why I think he A) has some great broken runs now and then and B) gets hurt more than you'd like.

I do believe he has some good vision and a great 2nd gear. I'm hopeful for James to have a good season. Frankly, you gotta love the guy compared to Bell in terms of attitude as well as production.
 
This offense will be way to potent to be run first offense. The pass will set up the run as that is Roethlisberger's stregnth. I'd like to see 55-45 or less in favor of the pass due to predictability. Hell, just a few short 5-8 years ago a 6%. Differential was 95+% predicted by run/pass by opposing defense (think Bruce Ariens' 5-8 % differential).

The NFL isn't a guessing or chess game anymore. The rules change dictate fast score to keep up and it is designed by LEAGUE officials to keep games close to the end so as to keep "tuned in" audiences that much longer. Ticket price is for "entertainment" purposes only.

CLEARLY one can see this is a pass built offense and to change to run dominant would be foolish.
