Mark it down, once the Commanders new stadium is complete, Mike will be the head coach in Washington (two years)
 
As long as Mikey Sunglasses is on TV pontificating and not on our sideline striving for mediocrity I am fine with it.
 
I saw his Hall of Fame deal talking about players he coached, and I thought he did an Okay job of it. TV is hard. Whilst stationed in RAF Mildenhall there was this whole thing that local TV stations were doing in 1994 whereby military personnel could send holiday greetings to their loved one's back home. My wife and I showed up, and it took us numerous takes to get a simple freaking message out. When the camera is on you, it's pretty awkward for most, I believe.

They might let him do the pregame and first Q.
Then for the last 3 quarters he just sits at the desk, saying nothing, imagining what it's like to be a fired stains coach getting a PO win from his basement.
 
Obviously, I’m appreciative of Jimmy and the people at NBC for having him. But I’m not going to sit here and paint with a broad brush and assess the totality of the performance. That’s not what we do.


There were some moments where he was comfortable. There were some moments where he was less than comfortable. Such is life. Comfort is not a prerequisite for participation.


Jimmy came prepared. He came prepared. They had a conversation. Sometimes he asked questions. Sometimes he provided answers. That’s generally the nature of interviews.


He wanted to talk about some of the things Tomlin has said over the years. The Tomlinisms, as you guys like to call them. I don’t concern myself with catchy phrases and things of that nature. I’m just communicating. If you all choose to put it on a T-shirt, that’s your business.


Was there laughter? Certainly.


Did I enjoy watching it myself? Certainly.


But we don’t seek comfort. We don’t seek applause. And we certainly don’t live in our fears when the red light comes on.


I thought Fallon represented himself well. He didn’t blink. Tomlin didn’t blink. Two professionals working in a highly competitive late-night environment.


Now, could Tomlin have been better? Absolutely. There’s meat on that bone. I’ll look at the tape. I’ll assess it. Maybe I could’ve told a better story. Maybe Mike could’ve leaned into a joke here or there. But I’m not interested in style points. Style points don’t win television shows.


At the end of the day, Tomlin went into his house. Madison Square Garden area. Bright lights. New York City. Hostile environment. The Roots sitting five yards away. And he answered the bell.


I thought it was varsity performance.


But understand something: one appearance does not make a television career. I’m not going to anoint Tomlin after one performance. That’s September behavior. We’re trying to be playing meaningful television in December
