For week 15, Pro Football Focus has rated Villanueva the top LT, Shazier the top LB, and Boswell top kicker.

Left tackle: Alejandro Villanueva, Pittsburgh Steelers, 88.9

Alejandro Villanueva has been playing pretty well over the past month or so, and this week marked the best game of his season—and probably his career. He allowed just two hurries across 75 snaps, marking the third time in four games Villanueva hasn’t surrendered either a hit or a sack; his run blocking was also excellent.

Linebacker: Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers, 91.3

In only seven snaps on the blitz, Ryan Shazier managed a sack and a hit on the QB, but he also led the Steelers with four defensive stops. In coverage, he broke up a pass and allowed just one reception for 8 yards on the day, and beat Cincinnati guard Kevin Zeitler a few times in the run game, including for a tackle for loss.

Kicker: Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh Steelers

Six field goals from six attempts was the tally for Chris Boswell in Week 15, with five of the six coming between 40 and 50 yards. His most critical contribution to the game, though, may have come on a kick-off, where he saved a touchdown from Bengals return man Alex Erickson with a diving tap tackle.

Not shocked by Villanueva at all. He's a Ranger and he obviously has athletic talent. I hope we can blow a hole right through the rats on Christmas!

It's a nice feeling knowing that (barring injury) we have every position on our OLine in very solid shape with BJ also in ththe wings.

Cooch won't like this.

Villa started out shaky in September, but he has been getting better each and every game this season. The fact we haven't heard his name called in months, is a reason why he is doing so well. Remember, he just learned the position 3 years ago, and now he's getting top ratings.

Excellent job finding this diamond in the rough Coach T!

Good thing there is cap room. We can forget picking up FA. Gonna have to pay a guy like AL too.

I've been following PFF grades on the Steelers all season and it's been pretty good overall.

You can see the "plan" sort of come together for what Tombert wanted to happen. It's not perfect. The pass rush is a big problem. And even Harrison trying to act like he's 30 again (and sometimes succeeding) isn't really fixing the problem.

PFF has not been kind to Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree so far.

But as much as I've been skeptical of Shazier, what with his injuries and on/off play at times, PFF seems to grade him highly in more games than not. And the combination of Shazier and Timmons have done some nice things that Tomlin/Butler seem to want done.

And the D-line, with Tuitt and Heyward (when healthy) looks to be "planned" correctly.

And while it took tons of investment and possibly started too late, the O-line and their PFF ratings are really coming together. I've seen high ratings on all the offensive line at some point or other. And it wouldn't shock me that all five end up well above the positive line for the total season. And when the offensive line is working it lets our skill players (those healthy again) kind of reap the benefits.

I was skeptical at first, but this team could make a slight run in the playoffs. Again, like our other playoff success (if this happens) it might be as much about matchups and getting on a good roll at the right time more-so that a great, talented, deep roster.

Roethlisberger still stirs the drink and if he plays a solid A to B rated game the rest of the way, we might have a chance. And we might get into a 1-in-5 chance to get to the Super Bowl or something. That's not necessarily a bad season.

who ******* cares what he likes....

I did like it, and by the looks of it, I have some stalker-like fans. No one cares what you like either, but hey you're in F'n Houston so I get the tone.

I generally agree with the PFF grades, but I don't fully understand their grading system which seems to be heavy on assignment like duties and doesn't give enough credit for impact level plays.

As for the pass rush, it seems like the coaches have benched Jones, Moats and Chickillo, and are giving all the chances to Harrison and Dupree.

The bar for this season is a playoff win. Anything less than that is a failure.

The problem is every time you want to sort of get optimistic behind the direction Tombert has taken with the roster and the development/improvement from the players, this team finds a way to let you down.

And that is all set up for this weekend.

I mean, in all honestly, there is NO WAY we should lose this game this weekend. We are the superior team. We have BY FAR a superior quarterback. And Flacco continues to prove this week after week. You compare offensive lines, skill players, defensive playmakers, overall talent.... there is not one area where I can say Baltimore has an advantage on us. Not one.

We're playing rookies (secondary). They're playing rookies (Stanley). They have high draft picks that aren't living up the hype (Perriman, Elam). We have high draft picks not living up the hype (Jones, Golson). They have injuries (CB, TE). We have injuries. They filled some gaps with free agents. We filled some gaps with free agents.

In almost all respects (and you can take this as a positive or negative), there last couple of off-seasons and roster building has been equal or worse than ours.

The game is at home. Playoffs, a division title, and a first round home game are on the line. We are favored by 5 points and the money odds are indicating we should win almost 70% of the time.

If we lose this game, it would be a MONUMENTAL failure. It really would. And it would further exaggerate all those other games we seemingly let slip through our fingers over the years because we don't play up to our potential and level of talent (or the talent just isn't big-game talent at all).

We will see how the season finally plays out. That's why it's a novel and every week is a chapter.

Rats and Steelers definitely have some similarities.

Both can run, both are pass capable. Both had their shaky moments on D, although the Steelers were easily worse statistically.

Then the Steelers D improved recently.

And the rats D recently in the last two games has given up significant points.

I think in this game perhaps see if they can lean on Bell a little, see if they can do some play action passes.

Greens status is worrisome as is Tuitts.

I could see many of reasonable scenarios with a L or a W outcome.

I think this is the game Ben needs to be smart and accurate, in other words play a little better than he has the last two games.
