Watching the Steelers in two games and watching other teams, anyone else scratching their heads. I watch coaches, coaching players when they come off the field, I see players seemingly knowing their positions, players tackling, I see players looking at tablets trying to see where they went wrong, I see smooth consistent play, I see players standing out . Can anyone really see any of this with our team? We seem to try to find two players that stand out in our games. First team no first team, others teams seem to be way ahead with eye test on field. Myself I'm somewhat worried. We have two key players that won't play till fourth game and not at all. I see no advancement in learning from first to second game . We have heard players having good camps what happened when they arrived at Heinz Field. I watched Coates and you think he would be so motivated knowing he could shine yet he seems lazy and non caring on the field. Our QB situation is desperate at least when Ben has not had a good track record of sustaining the season. We have outside LB's that aren't even dressed and both need to prove something or rather anything. I know I know preseason, but remember two more game and season and we know the last game no one will play. It is hard to watch no wonder Heinz Field was empty. I don't think many others are seeing an improved team.

Coates might have been nervous/pressing who knows. Mistakes sure, not sure I would chalk it up as lazy on the field.

Don't let lack of points cloud vision on positives.

three positives the Steelers didn't have at their fingertips last year.

And you are left with :

*A lot of starters sitting or playing sparingly.
*Vanilla scheming.
*Closer looks at the bottom of the roster.

in other words a typical preseason.

Weirder yet is we are one of the AFC top contenders this season. Go figure.

when the preseason record plays a part in the final standings, I'll give a **** about the outcome of these games.

the defense has stunk on 3rd downs but that is without any starters out there...back up QBs suck, but that is nothing new...

I would expect Ben to start the 3rd game and the offense will look much sharper

I think you're overreacting.

Now what would a Steeler preseason be without the few customary "We are Doomed!!!" threads? I'd feel like something was missing without them. Ever notice that Pre season games NEVER engender optimism for an upcoming season? Everyone is usually feeling great before they start...optimism is high. Then the games start and it's all downhill. It's like people's hopes and dreams get crushed little by little....because pre season games are ugly no matter who is playing. Optimism in the preseason for individual players? Yes definitely. But for the team as a whole? No way. It disappears with every pre season fumble and bumble.

It's preseason, don't worry!

If you must, and just for fun, keep track of where all of the preseason champions are at the end of December.

Just as Slash said. Vanilla scheming. Steelers will be fine
