I'm old and I've become very pessimistic in regards to the Steelers over the past 5 or 6 years. I still long for the days of handing the ball off to Franco, Merrill, or the Bus, and it frustrated me to no end how the Steelers over recent years would move up and down the field between the 20 only to come away with no points.

Well, this team has a different feel. First...hats off to DC Butler. The defense really seem to be becoming a strength instead of a liability. Perhaps the injury to Ben was a blessing in disguise because it forced the D to take it on their shoulders. They should continue to gel going forward and I see them being one of the better defenses in the league once the offense starts putting up more points (when Ben returns). I only hope Shazier can get back and stay health.

I think I saw they flashed a stat showing the Steelers scored on all 15 red-zone trips...is that right? Well...I guess it would be 16 now. We should see in the next few weeks how good Beachum was. I don't recall hearing Villanueva's name called when he came in, but I was in a loud bar so couldn't really focus on the details.

Anyway, The Steelers should have beat the Ravens and the loss to the Pats wasn't as bad as it seems. Could be a different result if/when they meet again. I'm finally very optimistic about this Steelers team.

I like they are playing with passion......

and winning games with your franchise QB out could very well push the team into the playoffs when it is all said and done

actually more fun watching when ur team is an underdog...which is what I love!

With the way this defense plays without Shazier and the need for a strong safety, why not do something 'out of the box' like plug him in at Polamalu's desperately wanting position? He's damn near as fast. Very instinctive. Every bit the play maker. Sort of a Kam Chancellor with Troy speed.

Its obvious the kid's getting torn up that close to the line every play. I think he'd be spectacular in Troy's old shoes.

They don't NEED him at ILB. He'd be a real X-factor at SS.

Sleep on it. G'head.

There isn't a single aspect of this team that has totally played up to potential yet. I think that is a fantastic thing since they are 4-2... the Run game has two legit threats. The passing game could be great when Ben gets back, the Defense has been spotty. Special teams coverage has been better with better kicking, but the Field goals were atrocious for a minute...

Both losses came with major pieces missing... I think the proverbial arrow is pointed way up..lol

That is interesting... he is faster than Timmons, and for a while there was a thought to do the same with him when Troy was hurt... the 3/4 Ilb and SS position have some similarities. Troy basically played ILB in all but the name a couple seasons back

I've said since before the season that this year would depend on the defense. The offense is in place and good to go. If the defense manages to rise from bottom of the pile to somewhere adequate, which they have so far, then we'll be good for a playoff run. We lost to the Pats** as we almost always do but they hung 40 and 50 on everyone else and we kept them under 30. We can make a SB run as long as someone else manages to take out the Pats** in the playoffs.

Being at the game the one thing that really was a turn off was how in the first half the offens just set on the warm seats, when they were so inept without getting together and trying to figure out what was going wrong. Tomlin should have been all over this, the defense was playing their harts out against a good offens with some good weapons.

You'd think that being the HC, Tomlin would want to be on top of what the defense was doing when they were on the field also. In fact, if it bothered you that the offense sat on the warm seats during a cold day ... maybe, just maybe you should be calling out the coach who is directly responsible for the offense as the coach who should have had the offense gathered around to discuss what was happening with/to them on the field.

My fear is injuries catch up with us. as of now 2 starting linemen might be out for the year.
