They don't have to win, but there has to be some progress here. I'm getting passed the point of wins and losses. Of course I want victories, but they are out and draft doesn't hurt. But this is a coin toss game against a not great opponent where the coach got fired, but they seem to be trying harder with Saturday even though I think that was a BS play to hire him. They have to make steps forward. Particularly with KP.

If the play calling is the same, not much will change. KP has looked a good bit better the last 2 weeks and Najee is back to his last years self and looking good. The OL is still very suspect but has improved a little. The D is getting worse. I can see us going back to not being able to stop Taylor in this one and if they sell out to do so, they will throw all over us. I'd actually be surprised if we pulled out a victory in any of our remaining games. This team is just so poorly coached, they won't truly improve until at least Canaduh is gone and they have at least drafted an OL and DL with their 1st 2 picks in this draft. They must address both lines before anything else. It has been way too long since they've done so.

I agree. National televised game that will serve as an audition tape for several players.

None bigger than KP, considering how disappointing he was in his last national game (Two INT's to end the game). If he wants to change the narrative around the league- today is the day to do it.

I really hope he builds off his last performance. Plenty of errors but he made more plays downfield.

We have some talented players on this team....... they do not shine as much as we think they should mostly because of scheme and coaching concepts or lack there of.
I don't like to lose but I could handle losses easier if I saw effort in the simplest of things such as tackling, finishing blocks and avoiding stupid penalties. I do see an "it" factor in KP and it is time for him to put together a good game. That doesn't mean 350 yards and 4 TDS ....... it means control the tempo, hit open receivers, use the legs when opportunity presents itself and concentrate on making accurate throws. He had some pretty awful throws last week. Gadget plays and jet sweeps are making us look amateurish.
We are what our record says we are. I would like to have a decent draft next year and find an anchor for the oline at the very least. We have had premium Centers for years and guys like Faneca and DeCastro in the past. We have nothing close to those type of guys at present time. That is my hopeful starting point next season followed by DL.

As far as the Jeff Saturday hire....... the dude is passionate about the game and has rallied their locker room ...... so I hope we are prepared to stop Taylor and can put pressure on Ryan

Jim Irsay is well ...Jim Irsay ........most owners are suspect in my opinion ....... some are just louder than others

Very well said.

This is a winnable game, as have been 5 of our 7 loses. Biggest difference is that canaduh won't change his play calling and won't let his QB's audible. Last year Ben was allowed to go no huddle and win some games for us. Jet sweeps not working 10 times a game? Well then, lets just go ahead and run them every other play. Different coaching and play calling and we would be at least in the hunt for a wild card spot.

This team as is, curently has a ceiling cap. It is near it unless some things change. We may get better enough to win .500 or a game or two either side but currently play calling / coaching / talent evaluation are all lacking and until that improves, not much better will happen.

I'm not singling out KP because even last year's HOF QB had troubles in this offense as is. The players are near maxed out due to they are as far as current coaching methods can take them. one can only overcome so much, that's why coaching is important...............

Generally agreed.

From a public perception, I would expect the broadcasters to talk about the Saturday hiring and Cowher's comments.
The players understand what this means.

I think it will be interesting to see the passion of the Steeler players, because if they are flat/underwhelming, it will certainly be evident to all watching that a passionate, interested interim coach can generate better results than the esteemed Tomlin with the NFL's highest paid D and some recent high value picks on O.

I think a Steeler loss tonite brings a lot of criticism to Tomlin because of Cowher's comments about Saturday's hiring.

That said, Go Steelers!!! Always.

I want a win and to continue to see KP improvement. On D, I want their play to mirror their paychecks. Don't have a lot of faith in the coaches, so really nothing to add in that department.

Sorry Drink ......... coaching is not really important in Pittsburgh obviously ........... it is all about Execution ........... so let's begin with the execution of HC, OC and DC next year and maybe we will start to turn this chyt around........lol

The only thing that this game will show is if Tomlin has lost the plot so much that he loses to a team with a total novice at head coach…
Tim Benz wrote an article in the Tribune-Review summing up that point. He mentioned that it will be a long week for Tomlin if they loose.

KP played well in the 1st half of Bengals game. They adjusted thier defense at the half. We didn't change anything offensive or defense in the 2nd half.
It is kinda hard to blame KP for the loss

Whew, I'm glad DIC isn't on that execution list.................................................

Agreed to some extent. He didn't help his own resume with his accuracy and decisions though.

There is capital punishment in SD

maybe we will just drag you behind a luxury S10 and set you adrift in a kayak on the river

Will there be flaming arrows shot at me, while floating on the river?

If using my LUXURY S10, it is kinda like "Kip" in night rider............. we are linked as one so be aware of the danger and loyalty.

I hate Agreeing with Benz, but yeah… lose this one and the seat starts getting hotter for him, at least in the Media

Have you heard of any "HOT" seat talk yet? This won't do anything other than maybe a mention.

Maybe ownership will bat an eye .....

He is a rookie that is not getting the luxury of being a game manager like most rookies get. Even Ben got this
That's the nature of the NFL right now. "Throw 'em in and see what we got". No development time. No luxury of being a game manager. Some of them swim and some of them sink. Of those that sink, you wonder what they might have become if they had been given some time to develop before throwing them to the wolves.
