Seemed like they were keen to develop him, odd to swap him out for an undrafted rookie. Maybe he'll revert to IR.

Out of the U. Chickillo and Burns can show him the ropes.:popcorn2:

wtf is this guy?

maybe the FO thought they were getting Jamel Dean?

bet Cooch splooges at that

They believe they can "coach him up ".

Must be, as they put in a waiver claim for this dude, as opposed to waiting to sign him as a FA.

He seems like an interesting prospect, maybe they can unearth another Ike Taylor-type. He certainly has similar physical traits.

6-1, 206, ran a 4.3 40 with a 41' vertical at the combine. Was recruited by Saban to Alabama, switched to hometown Miami last minute. Seems he has a long way to go, but the raw athleticism is definitely there. Maybe the Steelers coaches can mold him into something down the road. At best, I'd guess he takes Brian Allen's spot on the PS.

Can't blame them for being aggressive as they may think he has something. *** the Browns who happen to be playing in 3 SBs this year.

Salute the nation

He's a size-speed guy, supposedly clocked a 4.3 40 at nearly 6-2. Perhaps they targeted him for the PS as a developmental guy.

Where are you getting these combine numbers? This is what Kozora posted:

Dean is a long, lanky corner from Miami (FL). Last year, he tied for the team lead with three interceptions though had an underwhelming college career after being a four star recruit out of high school. Weighing in at 6’1/2 185 pounds at his 2019 Pro Day, He ran a 4.47 40 with a 34.5 inch vert and 10 foot broad. The Steelers sent Tom Bradley to Miami’s Pro Day to check out their long list of prospects, Dean included.

Those measurable are pretty standard for a CB

I just checked and it was from the combine page of a different player - Jamel Dean - which popped up as I was researching Jhavonte Dean. My bad, thanks for catching that. Still decent size & speed, but not Ike Taylor-esque as I originally thought.

just kicking the tires and updating their assessment on the guy in case they need to call someone due to injury later is my guess.

#Steelers CB Brian Allen cleared waivers and was placed on the team injured reserve list.

Maybe they misread the combine data as well?
