So already several major things stand out to me

1. The bureaucrats are digging in... this one refused to leave office after being fired:

2. The delusion is real among too many ... here two of the two million government workers emailed about the buyout program are trying to sue Trump for invasion of privacy... they should both be fired... thats just plain stupidity

3. The Federal ( not counting state or local) employee total is 2.3 million people... thats not even counting the millitary... that is absurd... Walmart, in the entire world, employs 2.1 million..

For the record, the military has just over 2 million soldiers and officers and also employs another al most 800k civilians...

Bear in mind, there are 20 million state and local employees... so about 16% of the active us workforce are government employees

This is the real long-term structural issue because these folks always vote for more govt, more entitlements, etc.
Does this total include education and health employment from govt spending?
If not, add another 10% at least, and you can see the structural impediment that makes the concept of "democracy" a sham.

If you depend on govt funding for your paycheck, you are conflicted on voting for govt spending....

The right-wing conspiracy theorists on this forum are perhaps the only people who actually understood just how corrupt, greedy, and needless a huge amount of Federal spending was and remains. The spending by a department called USAID - which does not provide actual aid but instead spends hundreds of billions of dollars to purportedly promote "international development" - is a prime example. A few tidbits about USAID:



USAID spent $335 million on a diesel fueled power plant that just sat there because Afghans can't afford to import diesel. $300-500 million on a dam that was deemed too unsafe to use. $250 million on a partial road that deteriorated. Millions on healthcare facilities that don't exist. $70 million on contractor fees for projects that were canceled before being started, but they got to keep the money anyway. That sounds nice.

A contractor built a $500k police training facility that melted when it rained because it was made from sand. Really. The DoD paid almost $500 million for 22 cargo planes that were unsafe to fly and were sold as scraps for about $30k total.

USAID is simply a huge, corrupt money-laundering program that shifts taxpayer money to grifters and liars, including protesters. What a freaking embarrassing waste. Oh, and no surprise at who is bemoaning shutting down that grotesque misuse of tax dollars ...

Actually I rather doubt they did all of that whacky stuff, more like someone pocketed the money and just called it the Transgender Muppet Show or whatever.

Billions of taxpayer dollars go to USAID, leftists set up NGO's that don't do **** to make this nation better ("promoting lesbian agriculture in desert communities"), USAID funnels millions to the bullshit NGO's, the NGO's hire leftists and pay them enormous salaries for make-believe work that does nothing of any import, the well-paid NGO employees donate to leftist candidates, and the cycle continues.

This is big, people. Americans are finally waking up to the grotesque pig trough that is the Federal budget. Cannot wait for DOGE to examine Medicare fraud ...

The average earnings for those Virginia and Maryland counties is due to this graft and corruption. Trying to justify the thievery by saying "it's only x percent of the budget" is basically saying that some tyrant plundering the treasury of some African nation and using $25 million to build a mansion is not a big deal because "it's only x percent of the budget."

I learned a long time ago when I owned two franchises of a national service-type company that there was never a recession in the DC suburbs or Northern California.
The rest of us might be cooking the dog for dinner during a recession but the franchises in those places were still racking up sales awards.

When I still woke up with an alarm clock, following Medicare guidelines was a serious issue, accreditation for a facility could be easily lost for not falling in line.
Of course, this was for the peons at the end of the food chain, those that pulled the strings I can only speculate on.
