By CJ Lester SteelerNation.com The*Pittsburgh Steelers, with their 6th round pick, select S Antoine Brooks Jr. out of Maryland. The safety is the second Maryland prospect the Steelers have drafted today. Brooks Jr. adds much needed depth to the safety room.   How would you grade this 6th round pick for the Steelers? Let us […]

Quite the highlight reel! Sure seems to have a nose for the ball

Wow...can't stop watching that reel. Love this pick..why was he ranked so low?

He isn't an off the ball S. He is best in the box or even better in a hybrid LB/S role. He also isn't a ball hawk. He isn't a blazer. So those things will drop you. But this guy is a physical attack type player. He should be fine as a blitzer. If the Steelers use him up close in he should be fine.

As I said in another thread this looks every bit of Barron's replacement.

good video
he sure spends a lot of time in the opposing backfield for a Safety......Me Likey TFLs
Love the hit at 0:59 ...............you could hear it throughout the stadium

Hits like Ryan Clark.........yeah

Kid looks like a baller in the run game.,. put him in the slot and let him run some of the Hilton blitz plays, let him try the Barron role, special teams. Love this pick, but the awesome highlight reel should lead with a play that isn’t PI.

Welcome aboard, looks like a pretty easy path to make the roster if deployed properly.

Well, he's a big hitter but a Safety that runs a 4.64 40? Looks like a Special Teamer to me and he'll probably be great in that role.

This is this years draft pick that our "wasn't used properly" mantra would actually be the truth if he doesn't cut it..

The Steelers absolutely drafted him to fill Barron's void...if they ask him to go outside of that and play a traditional safety role...he will not succeed,,,

From the film I saw...this kid could actually be an upgrade to Barron next season once he gets acclimated..

My friend who is a diehard MD and Steeler fan is most excited about Brooks being on the Steelers.

He probably seen him a lot at Maryland. Tell him to tell us what he liked about him.................

From my buddy:

On D Brooks stood as a playmaker. He seemed to always be in the right place to make plays, was able to chase down the ball carriers, and was by far their best tackler and hitter on the team. I'm not sure about his man coverage but he's a savvy zone player who takes good lines to the ball and is a sound tackler. Guy can lay the boom!

I think he starts at special teams and he'll flash there. He plays physical Steelers football. To me he just always seemed to be where the play needed to be made.

In the stands at Terps games, he was one people noticed and said he could go in the NFL Draft. Our Ravens friends who root for UMD are not happy we took him.

I remember his big tackle for a loss at the Temple game. My company does pregame for UMD, and I got a free entry pass that day.

Slash beat me to it. I like the pick a lot...

I thought this pick as a poor one, and low and behold he was cut.

You didn't care for Claypool. Did you ever say why? The guy looks to be a really good.

Yeah, as you said. Dude was cut.

lol coach feelin' froggy today. . .

Yeah, as you said. Dude was cut.

Sometimes players don't work out. **** happens,.he will probably hit the PS and could be back next year. So don't count your chickens just yet chickenhead.

Way to go out on a limb for that 6th rounder. Still get nothing but crickets from you when I pegged a 7th rounder in Auden Tate to be an NFL player, who is now in his 3rd year. That is draft eval. Not looking at a group of First rounders and telling us all who you 'know' is best. It's assessing talent late in the draft to be NFL players.

For a guy that missed HUGE on a first ballot HOFer that played for this team, you should be more humble discussing the draft.

So I had to look it up... Coach did say that he did not like the Antoine Brooks pick and would have taken another safety named Josh Metellus. Guess what? Metellus was cut by the Vikings and signed to their PS - the same as Brooks (who was added to our PS)....
