With 3 games to play, the Steelers Magic Number to win the Division is 1.

That is 1 win in the next three weeks, or a loss by Cleveland in the next 3 weeks.

Steelers have pretty much lost a chance at the 1 seed with a bye. A win this week may lock up a 2/3 seed so there isn't much incentive of having one over the other.

Do you rest Big Ben to get him ready for the playoffs if the division is clinched?

Atkins now out for the year. This is the game our offense needs to find some rhythm and work on kinks. Gotta beat up on the Bungles and then get ready for war with the Colts and Clowns.

Boy we'd better thump the Bungs. This team needs a confidence building win badly with a couple TOUGH games still to go to close out the schedule.

We clinch at worst the 3rd see if we win as well, that would force Buffalo to win two of the final 3 to get the 2 seed, they play @NE, @Den, vs Miami.
If his knee is that bad, yes you have to rest him, or limit him for sure

If resting Ben for three weeks (after Bengals before first playoff game) would make a significant difference with his knee, I think I would. A healthier Ben on the road if we get to round two is more important than playing at an empty HF with the condition Ben's in now.

I wouldn't stop there, I'd sit Decastro as well.

The Steelers would need to come clean about their injuries to appease Roger but it's not like opponents don't know he's has no mobility. I'm sure the NFL will scrutinize the move, they'll need to get creative about why he can't play when nothing was mentioned on previous injury reports.

Even if The Chiefs' lose to NO, they still have the tiebreaker, I don't see them losing to the Falcons or Chargers. Start rotating Heyward out of there as often as possible and tell Haden his knee is flaring up again after Cincinnati.

1 v 2 v 3 is a bigger deal this year. Would rather we not have dropped the last 2 games and still be in the drivers seat for #1 and a bye. I'd rather us not have to go back to Buffalo where our players were falling in the second half. Rest is important, but so is rhythm and right now we have neither.

I'm not sure how the tie breaker falls for the Dolphins and Ravens tied for the seventh seed but imagine if the Ravens need us to beat the Colts or Browns for them to get in. Sitting Ben would send Harbaugh into a rage, they would be on that private jet first thing to visit Roger. The angst and whinning coming from the fans, media and front office would set a new standard. I think I might enjoy that.

The one thing the #2 and #3 seed do this year is guarantees you won't go to KC in round 2.

At least they can have fans in KC. We would still take that stadium over.

TN as the 4 seed is going to be a problem for KC if they can get Henry going.

Three of those potential lower seeds that could be going to KC have legit running games, Tenn, Clev, Balt. I'd give Balt, then Tenn, then Clev the best chance to pull that upset, Baltimore has the best CB group.

no need to have injury to rest someone. we can start anyone we want. if there is injury now, it has to be on report already

You don't rest Ben for the last 2 games. Ben has proven to get rusty when given that kind of time off. Even giving him the entire final game of the season off has some risk but you have to do it. But, we have to win this weekend for any of that to matter.

I tried various scenarios and the three opponents that kept coming up were Indy, Cleveland, and Baltimore at the No 2 or 3 seed. There are just so many variables right now it's tough to predict the seeding.

He looked pretty good to start this season...

you're going to feel stupid when the chiefs drop the cheifs drop the charger game and the Steelers get the #1 seed again

Man I would love that but have you seen that Chargers D lately? They might put up 60 on them.

Somewhat but he couldn't connect on anything deep.
He doesn't need to make his money being a deep ball passer. Manning won a SB being a shell of himself. He just need to play sound football. No dumb INTs. Our D keeps us in every game and we will have our ILbers back for the playoffs with AW having decent reps by then too. If the dropsies can minimize this team still has a good chance to go all the way and win it.

I have no idea how Manning did what he did his last year. He had nothing on his passes. As for Ben he still has some zip, but i don't know if he can do it all the time. I still think its a knee issue. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some surgery at the end of the year. If we win the division id day rest Ben. The chances of us getting the 1 seed is extremely slim. People say about Ben being rusty after a layoff, but he sure isn't lighting it up now. I don't think the layoff would effect our lifeless O. It would also give us a chance to work on our running game with Rudolph in there

He hit Chase on that 84 yard td, that was like 60 yards in the air. This deep pass is being way over blown. The pass to Washington that everyone is going crazy about, Washington was his 3rd read, it was 3rd and like 4, he was looking left waiting for one of those options to get open, by the time he said screw it, Washington was already 30 yards downfield, and he had a DL coming, he just threw it last second under pressure.
All this deep ball talk, but no one ever mentions the ball Claypool had go right through his hands early in the Buffalo game, that was 30+ yards, or the PI Claypool drew in the Wash game that was 30+yards and could've been six if the DB didn't grab Claypool, or the deep ball Claypool had go right through his hands in the Baltimore game.

Manning never won a SB with his arm. Running game in Indy, Defense in Denver. The only one he tried to win by throwing, he lost it on a late INT.

He just made clutch throws.
