The Steelers have announced their cuts as the 4pm deadline has came and gone. Among them were veteran WRs Eli Rogers, and Johnny Holton. Sixth round draft pick Sutton Smith, and seventh rounder Derwin Grey. Last year’s draft pick Marcus Allen was also released. You can find the full list here: #SteelerNation

They are going 5 wide outs and I would think JaySam as RB/slot. Its numbers. They wanted to keep Sp. Teams in tact but keep Skipper and Gilbert. I'm good with it. They will get a wr. Whether it is Holton or Spencer through to the PS in case they get a serious injury.

Gilbert, Kelly, Skipper, Buggs > Holton and Rogers

You cannot keep both Switzer and Eli who have the same skill set so you go with the younger guy in Switzer with more upside.

Holton and possibly even Spencer will be on the ps.

Surprised they did not keep Holton, happy for Skipper. Lets hope he gets into games and can make one play a game

I feel that one of Ola or Skipper will emerge as a starter to replace Bud Dupree allowing them to use a premium pick elsewhere next year. I just dont know which one it will be.

Yep, it's all about defense. You don't dump quality defensive talent just to hold on to a # 6 receiver, especially a solid edge rusher like Skipper when there's a good chance Dupree leaves next season.

They did it!! They kept Skipper!

Wooooooot!!

Kinda surprised they kept Dobbs over Hodges also kinda surprised dirty red or chick didnt get cut. I would have kept one or 2 less linebackers and added another WR, but overall cant really complain much this year. Nothing really head scratching like previous years

Hodges will likely clear waivers and make the PS, especially after the last showing at Carolina (not that it was all his fault, he was running for his life most of the game).

I heard that they were interested in dealing Dobbs for a TE, but no luck.

There are rumors that Dobbs is still on the block,as well as ones that they like him for his intelligence in reading defensive schemes with Ben as well as practicing as a running qb... and talk of incorporating him into the offense if he stays as a wr or wildcat rb...

I think he may get dealt if they get a great offer, but with all the 2 qbs on the market all of a sudden, that isn’t exactly probable

Stacking linebackers on the team. Hell yes! Got to get that defensive mojo back. They will never reach or win another Super Bowl without it. All 6 trophies and not a soft defense in the lot.

Holton is the only the I was semi disappointed that didn't make the roster. He seems like he could use another year of seasoning before making a big impact.
