The Pats lose an AFC game to start the season. If we lose this game, I...I... I will not be surprised.

I certainly hope not, but I have to admit the thought crossed my mind. We have a tendency to make things more difficult than necessary. The Pats gift wrapped the inside track to the #1 seed tonight. The question is, will we take advantage of it?

My lord people. I will put money against anyone here that thinks the Steelers will lose this weekend. We don't go into opening games overconfident. We're on the road, we're playing a squad that jettisoned talent (their top CB going into our laps). And just dumped a talented safety because of a fight? Hell, I'd fight to get off of that terrible team too.

You don't think we have something to prove this week. You don't think the Steelers saw the 19-0 Pats just get humiliated in their home opener? You don't think Joe Hayden wants to rub it into the Browns faces, that they dumped the wrong guy? You think Hayden would ever take this game lightly? Dude is a team leader, and he's chirping to the entire team about stomping that mudhole in Cleveland.

Tomlin is 10-4 in home openers, and he lost to 3 great teams (Den, NE, and BAL), and one average team (TEN) in week 1. He is not losing this week, unless something catastrophic happens to Ben early.

I could see a big W on Sunday, but a letdown against MIN. Taking one game at a time and do agree about injuries. Got to get unscathed.

Go ******* hide under a rug................. STEELERS will win weather by just 1point or by 100points as it doesn't matter the point spread. Is it less of a victory for us if we only win by one??? Will you be talking about ONLY beating the Browns by one when we are lifting the SEVEN??????? I bet you hope we only win by one so you can come here and complain about it.............. Allthough my prediction is 42-17 STEELERS win I won't complain one bit if we win 3-2, you get my drift..?????

This is going to be PSU vs Akron. I honestly don't see a single position where they can match up against our personnel. Their LBs are good, but can be negated with a spread attack. Let's see if we learned how to scheme to teams weaknesses this year.

I tend to agree with you here. I think folks are missing the point. I'm not super worried about the Cleveland, but I am worried about a "cake walk" schedule for the early part of the season.

It's our opportunity to put our foot on the Pat's neck early. I am worried that we're going to stumble coming out of the gates and blow a prime opportunity to establish ourselves. Don't act like this team has never lost to bottom feeders before - sometimes in successive weeks.

I was a little worried we are going into the opener a little over confident. Stains defense losing a player to injury and another being cut has changed my outlook.

I'm hoping this team take a gradual climb to be hitting on all cylinders come Dec and Jan. Just beat who they should and steal a game or two that they probably shouldn't. I expect the Texans, Chefs and Raiders to be there when it matters, so the Steelers have to keep pace with the other top dogs in the AFC. The f'n Pats, too.

Gameplan for Sunday should be to run the ball down their ******* throat and when they load up to stop it hit them with AB and Marty and company. I would be mixing Bell and Conner on runs and if he dresses Watson could see some carries too. I don't think they want to get Bell 30 touches in week 1 after missing camp.

Our defense should be able to overwhelm a rookie QB in his first start.

for sure, don't need to over-use LBell in the first game. I would like to see Watson and Conner wear their ***** down in the second half.

This isn't a outrageous thought to have...

How many sucky teams have the Mike Tomlin version of the Steelers found a way to lose to?

How many times have we looked at a up coming game and thought "well that's a win" only to be disappointed?

I don't think it will happen this Sunday but would anyone be well and truly SHOCKED if it did?

Maybe only if this your first year as a Steeler fan

The Stars are aligned for a great game, for a **** up, for an average game, for a 2-0 game, for a 98-9 victory...

LET'S GET THIS THING GOING AND KICK THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!!!

Except that we're playing a bad team on the road. That's when Shades and the players are at their worst. I'm not saying for sure that the Steelers will lose but if they do I won't be the slightest bit surprised.

"You don't think the Steelers saw the 19-0 Pats..."
I don't follow the rest of the league too closely but I don't think the Pats went 19-0

The Steelers are 24-3 in the last 27 games vs the Clowns. This time they are starting a rookie QB who looked shaky in the pre-season.

I highly doubt we lose this game.

I would be surprised. I'm not saying it's impossible. Anything is possible on a football field. We could turn the ball over 8 times and lose to them again, but this matchup is terrible at every position for Cleveland.

Do you think Cleveland can cover our receivers? TE? Bell? You think they can hold bell under 50yds?
Do you think our front 7 will allow them to rush for 100yds? Do you think our Pass D and new press corners in Burns and Heyden will allow their receivers to torch us?

Really I just don't see it, so if your argument is 'because the Steelers suck on the road', I just can't get on board. This is a new team with talent everywhere, and the only thing stopping them would be the worst performance of their life.

I predicted a win by 3. Just expressing some pattern recognition here.

On paper this is a blowout in our favor. But Tomlin must make sure these guys stay grounded and approach these games against teams with inferior talent the same as they would against teams that have an abundance of talent like the Pats, Chiefs, Broncos.
That's what defines an excellent coach like a Belicheck or a Pete Carroll.

There is always a "puncher's chance" but I think our counter-punch is a hell of a lot better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
