The Offense

It was frustrating to watch them go into turtle mode in the second half. The moment they decided to turn it on , they scored again. DHB did a great job stretching the field and as you mentioned, it will only get better when Bell and Bryant return, then Pouncey later.

I know this probably sounds crazy, but am I the only one that thinks the oline is doing just as well, if not better, without Pouncey?

Wallace is a stop gap. He doesn't have the athleticism to pull, nor the strength to dominate like Pouncey. Pouncey's only peer is Dirt. You think Walllace is doing a good job because the O'line coach is covering for him. We're not asking him to do anything but stay in the middle. I would say, I am happier with Wallace's effort this past game since he let up a sack in the first one. I hope Wallace continues to improve and hold down the middle until Pouncey gets back.

The #1 job of a center? Don't **** up the snap exchange. He's doing great with that so far.

If we can get Pouncey back later this season healthy and not lose anyone else along the way, good luck stopping us. The only thing that stops this offense is this offense.

It only seems that way because the other four guys are playing better. At better points in the careers individually. So collectively as a unit they are equipped to play with out Pouncey. But they would be even better with Pouncey. Way better.

You should have heard the 9rs fans making fun of Wallace, who used to be theirs... he is absolutely the weak link on that line right now, but the difference between a great center and an average one is not that noticable in most games... you only notice a Center when they totally blow it or when they make some ridiculous block. Wallace is OK, but he isnt getting ten yards down the field to put a killer block on a guy with any regularity. The offense will have way more options when Pouncy is back..

Don't get me wrong, I'm saying saying Wallace is as good as Pouncey. What I am saying is, I think Wallace is actually doing a pretty damn good job. Moving forward, is it crazy to think that if that continues, Pouncey could be traded and the money we're paying him could be used elsewhere (such as signing Beachum or finally getting a real DB in free agency)?

Derek Freaking Carr toasted them for 350 yards and 3 TDs, one on a last minute game winning drive.....

ravens got too much respect in the pre-season. Losing Niata, Suggs and McPhee is huge for them, plus their secondary doesn't scare anyone. I think we can beat them twice this year. The team that concerns me in this division is the Bungles who are playing pretty well.

From NFL.com..... a point to ponder.....

2. Coach Bill Belichick and Brady only know one speed. They kept throwing the ball every down and going empty backfield even while up by three scores in the fourth quarter. They went for a 40-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-1 midway through the fourth quarter. After constantly failing to put the Bills away, Buffalo crept all the way back to only five points down with just over four minutes left.

At that point, most teams would try to slow down the pace. Instead, the Patriots continued to throw the ball vertically and it paid off with a long drive inside the Bills' red zone. Danny Amendola made an outrageous one-handed diving catch that helped put the Bills away

If you want to know who, outside of injury, can stop this offense, I can come up with two names- Mike Tomlin and Todd haley... they let it rip and we should win many games by double digits

If you want to know who built this offense try the same two names.

Absolutely, but save for the one trick play that killed that first drive of the season, so far our offense has only been tripped up by conservative playcalling. As long as we don't try to run out the clock in the third quarter on teams that can score frequently, we should be ok

You are not alone. I think Pouncey is a bit over rated by Steelers fans. He damn sure ain't Dirt or Webster.

Dirt and Webster are top notch HOF. I like Pouncey as a player, but he's replace able. And I do agree that the oline is playing awesome s. A very improved unit. It's been awhile since Ben has had a good line to protect him

All centers are replaceable... there is a reason so few get to the HOF... like guard the position isn't for true playmakers... there are exceptions, but having an average center is less painful than an average Wr, or CB, or LB, or even LT.... We cannot run all of the plays we can with opouncey in there, and Wallace gets pushed around more, but Ben is exceptional at handling pressure when he does falter, and the offense isn't run centric. we will be fine without MP....

Agreed

They did better the last time he went down...When he gets bull rushed, he's done.

May be a blessing for the team that he's out.

He sure does...he did it in this game...albeit AFTER the whistle!!! He absolutely laid that guy out THEN was called for a personal foul. :night:

This. Wallace does get pushed back a lot 1-on-1 blocking. If you rewatch the games you'll see that most of the time he either pushes off his defender to another lineman or gets double team help, he rarely ever blocks singly. Having Pouncey back will be a huge upgrade IMO as they'll be able to get back to single man blacking schemes.
