The Defense

Well if it means anything, if you look at the Vikings/Cowboys box score stats, the Vikings only had 3 incompletions the entire game, and their 1st & 2nd string QBs completed 100% of their passes. And the Cowboys are expected to have a great defense this year. Just another example to take preseason as a grain of salt. Also just last week we had 6 sacks and held the Packers to less then 250 total yards. So I'm not worried until it counts.

Shush... I want Panic ..... MOAR PANIC... Riots in the street and such... ITS SO BAD YOU CAN EVEN SPELL "STEELERS" WITHOUT A "D" THESE DAYS!

Get off to a slow start and the season is over.

If they are holding anything back, they better gameplan and play starters a ton in the last preseason game because they don't have the luxury of slowly getting better with this year's schedule.

Von Clausewitz in his book "on war" talks about the moment on the field where a general must realize what he termed the "reality of the situation" I.e. Where you throw down the book and and go over and kick there *** lest they come over and kick your ***. We have reached that point in the post cowher era. To go further sun zu in the book "art of war" talks about that in confrontations you are faced with "direct" or " indirect" action. Our "indirect" standing around the line of scrimmage, delayed blitzes, hybrid lines of ends and linebackers, three safeties three backs of midget size is not working. It's time for " direct action" it's time to line these youngs dudes up and go over there and either kick some *** or get our *** kicked trying. Until we line up eight in the box and point to the other offense and say, like in days of old, "you better tighten up your chin straps you're playing Pittsburgh 2day!" This defense will suk.

The defensive drafting to me is a very curious situation. Tomlin and please don't try and tell me he has little input because he certainly has great input since he is the head coach of this football team. Anyway Tomlin's strengths were supposedly defense so you would think he could spot talent. I don't understand that one. Where are the Hamptons, Keisels', Smiths', Kirkland's, Gildon's', Porter's, Taylor's?

Colbert has lost his aggressiveness that he had when Cowher was here or then again maybe he really never had it and it was Bill pushing the buttons. Point being, move up to take Troy, move up to take Holmes. Spot F/A talent in Farrior, Clark, Harrison, Gandy to name just a few and make a draft day trade and I mean a real gutsy trade to acquire Bettis for our #2. Notice since Bill has left the pattern change? We now just lay back and wait for guys to fall. Case in point the 2015 draft. They wanted Williams the TE from Minnesota so they just thought lets just sit on our hands. We all know how that turned out. This is not a gripe but just stating some facts.

especially with the potential to be without three difference makers in the first two games

To be honest, other than Bryant, I wasn't real impressed with the offense either. Nobody could open lanes for the runners and the QB's were scrambling for their lives all day, Ben included.

Zone coverages work because of pressure and teamwork, and we have neither

Historically we've stopped the run first to force the pass so our OLB's could feast. That doesn't apply now. Teams will come out passing.

Brady can pick apart a 10 yd cushion...after the 1st time we get burned deep over the middle that's what we'll be playing, you watch.

The combination of Tomlin and Colbert are collectively killing this team with poor scouting and terrible drafts.

They simply are doing a terrible job at selecting players in the draft. Our high round picks just aren't working out far too often.
