The Backup QB Dillemma

Neither did Tim Tebow and Terell Pryor. He was the face of the NFL because they were hoping he would transform the QB position and the game. He did not. He was far more marketable than he was good.

Tom Brady was never expected to transform the QB position but was and is the face of the NFL. He was good and still is good. Can you imagine someone arguing he wasn't succeeded because his new team didn't coddle him?

Youre using 1 game of work (Tebow and Pryor) vs history w/ Vick. I believe Vick faced the Steelers 3 or 4 times throughout his career and never lost to the Steelers

C'mon, Sarge - YouTube is your friend...you can find the highlights there. Remember this as well - ATL didn't have the offensive weapons that we have - they did have one of the most prolific running attacks on this side of 2000...
I was talking about him being the face of the NFL. I think you could say he was popular for his athletic ability, maybe for bringing relevance back to Atlanta, of being hyped as something he never was. But I don't think he was ever the face of the NFL.

Surely you jest??? That same Vick never lost to the "then great Steeler's defense"...just in case you forgot. And before he got in trouble, he was the face of the NFL---how quickly we forget...

Vick was never that good highly over rated. Sure he was very fast and elusive, but was never that good of a passer. He got teams to the playoffs due to running not passing. He only threw for over 3000 yrds 2x and his highest passing TD total is 20.

OK, when it comes time for HOF voting, you can argue his career record vs the Steelers, I'll argue his 80 QB rating and 2 playoff wins.

He wasn't very good.

Vick wasn't that good, YET for some reason he had the STEELERS number. I remeber us making him look all pro a passing. He picked us apart and we had no answer. I was totally disgusted as he never did that to any other team before or sense. We had great "Ds" and other teams had trouble. I think laundry and vick are adequate as back ups. Who the heck are you going to bring in, learn the system / plays and NOT be to limited. I realize one can argue as to vick being limited, true, but a completely newbie would have more limited play calling.

Salute the nation

Thing is limited play calling, may be initial. But they get their *** in the playbook and learn.

The one main reason to replace Vick is simple. He can not pass accurately short and long passes.

He is washed up.

So a washed up player is simply taking up space, because if you have to ever use him you are stuck with the same results.

Vick took a top 5 O and turned it into 20 something ranking in a relative short amount of time.

So instead of sitting on your hands you look and look and look hell bring in ten for a tryout if yinz have to.

And replace him JUSTTTTTTTTTTTTT in case that you need a thrid string option moving forward.

I get tired of hearing from Colbert that they are always looking for talent, then watch them make no moves until it is too late.

They did it t RB last year, and then at SS and QB this year...

draggggg those feet

drag 'em

/ end rant
