If Landry is out for a long period of time and Vick is not ready, what are our options?

Do we risk Gimpy Ben with Miller and Murphy as the Backups or is there a UFA signing we must make?

Inquiring minds want to know!:adoration:

I think Landry will return for the Seachickens game.. If I recall correctly, he said he felt good enough that he could have gone back in yesterday. But by then it was already Ben's game

Murphy until the other 2 are serviceable. We hitched our cart to Vick and Jones already. Vick should be good enough to go after the bye, and Jones should be good too. He's back on the field with a taped foot yesterday, so I'm thinking it's a an ankle sprain, but not severe since he can put weight on it.

We will be screwed against the Hawks defense if Vick and and his, '3.5 second wind up throwing motion' is in........

Vick was a healthy scratch. Tomlin said after the game that Jones could've went back into the game yesterday.

Might NOT be just his throwing process...... Maybe his thought / read process.......

I think they should can Vick and bring in a upgrade.

Curious as to who the upgrade would be and what "CAP" ramifications we would incurr?

If Ben was ready to go for the Browns game why wouldn't he be ready for the Seahawks game in two weeks? In any case, if we have to depend on Vick or Landry in any of the remaining games, we are totally screwed.

No more than bringing in a Pead or a Jones or a Vick I presume.

As far as who, with Vick's on the field performance. I would think a upgrade wouldn't be too hard to find.

No point in cutting Vick at this point in the season. Landry is your #2 the rest of the year, Vick is #3. There is no dilemma, Jones could have gone back in on Sunday, so he's not going to be out any length of time at all, Vick was a healthy scratch as well. We have our bye, everyone will be healed up from the bumps and bruises, we're in a good spot right now.

THe off season should be interesting with Ben, Gradkowski, Jones and Vick as QB's. What to do with who? Does Jones become #2 and Grad #3? Does jones make good trade bait to a QB starved team (there are many)?

I like the idea of keeping Grad as #2, trade Jones (get a pick) and bring in another young buck to learn the QB position. Cutting Vick is a given.

I don't think Jones has done nearly enough for a team to want to trade for him but stranger things have happened.

Time will tell, obviously. Vick doesn't have the pedigree to make next years cut. Jones is up to trade, but beforew that happens, grad. will have to be evalueated in progress of return. All that said, Ben #1, Grad.#2, project kid #3 (must be high pick, with quick processing skills)

Tyler Murphy would be an adequate backup for Ben in the Seattle game...or if Landry is able to be the backup, Murphy can be the #3 "emergency" guy. Tyler isn't a guy that will win you a bunch of games, but he can get you some yards and not lose the game (like Vick).

I didn't see what Vick had to offer before they signed him. From what I've heard, I don't know what he gives you that Murphy doesn't. I'd imagine Murphy is just as incapable of reading a defense, but can still run if he needs to do so.

Cit the dog killer, call up Murphy.

Which games did Vick lose?

Good point. I would like to see a healthy Mike Vick operate after hanging around a system for more than the 3 days he got before his first game and getting his body back to playing shape.
I still can't believe that the Steelers could have hoped for a positive outcome by inserting a left handed QB into a system programmed for a right hander having receivers timed accordingly! Jones has been in the system for 3 years, why not use someone with more familiarity then bring along Vick and turn the keys over to him when he was ready? I thought then and still do now it was an unfair decision to put Mike Vick in that situation. He is an asset if managed properly, instead they got him hurt for crissakes.

Are those rose-colored glasses you're wearing? You're talking about coddling a 15 year vet. Seriously?

Vick wasn't very good in his prime and now he's beyond his prime. There's are reason he was still available.

He got hurt doing one of the few things he can still do.

All three are ready. Ben, Landry and Vick all in place for Seattle. Non concern.

Vick said he was playing Johnny Football for the scout team. How is he not ready?
Healthy scratch.
Which games did Vick lose?

Haters will continue to hate, man. Mike Vick, while he's not Vick 1.0 - he didn't lose any games that he started this year. Hell, Vick 3.0 is a solid teammate and worthy of his roster spot this year.

We'll have to see what happens next year; but, IMO, I find no fault in making him #3 and rolling w/ the surprise Landry at #2 for the remainder of the year.

Surely you jest??? That same Vick never lost to the "then great Steeler's defense"...just in case you forgot. And before he got in trouble, he was the face of the NFL---how quickly we forget...

Neither did Tim Tebow and Terell Pryor. He was the face of the NFL because they were hoping he would transform the QB position and the game. He did not. He was far more marketable than he was good.

Tom Brady was never expected to transform the QB position but was and is the face of the NFL. He was good and still is good. Can you imagine someone arguing he wasn't succeeded because his new team didn't coddle him?

I can agree w/ that - I'll counter your "appreciation" for T*m Br*dy with this - until he is fully vindicated of his cheating ways - he gets no props for his performance in the NFL from me.

I'm not saying that coddling any QB is the right thing to do; but, I will stand by my defense in Vick's performance is, at the very least, on par w/ Landry Jones, who, has spent three years in this system.
I watch a lot of football, but I must have missed that game.
C'mon, Sarge - YouTube is your friend...you can find the highlights there. Remember this as well - ATL didn't have the offensive weapons that we have - they did have one of the most prolific running attacks on this side of 2000...
