The reality is the same every year. Go back and look for yourself. You MIGHT net one or two long term players. A great year is three to be honest.
- Mendenhall was the only guy to log significant time/snaps on the team .
- Ziggy Hood and Mike Wallace. Several others played as back ups for a long time but those were the only real contributors.
- Pouncey, Sanders and Brown (Big year)Worilds never made it fully.
- Heyward, Gilbert
- Decastro and to some extent Beachum
- Bell and Vince Williams and whatever they got from uncle Jarvis
- Shazier (unfortunate his injury),Tuitt and McCullers (and what has he done)
- Dupree, Jesse James and Chickillo (SP. Teams)
- Hargrave is a player and got a big contract, Burns busted in Pittsburgh and in general, Sean Davis wasn't bad and I feel he will resurrect his career. Dirty Red was as significant Sp. Team player as Chickillo
My point is that the reality of the draft is a crap shoot. We get super excited about these guys and in the end 2 out of 7-9 work out if you are lucky. And its the same with everyone else. And in a year like 2016, its often about circumstance. If Davis isn't hurt last year and they trade for an available Fitz. He might be in a different circumstance. If the Steelers had cap room no way Hargrave is gone. And if they play a different defense ,I'd keep him over Bud. Even Matacevich is really a cap casualty more than anything else.
