Not one man left on the team. My thoughts the day after was a below average draft class, Burns and Davis were bad picks. The Steelers should have taken the trade down offer, where the two players I would have selected ( Howard and Simmons ) were pro bowl DB's. Oh well...

For those who want to defend this draft class, the floor is yours.

NO One wanted Burns with our 1st pick, stop acting like you are some football genius

Yep. Burns was one of the biggest letdowns we've had in the first round in two decades--and that was agreed upon the moment he was selected. Most of us thought Davis was a reach in the second round and some had to talk themselves into thinking that was a good pick. Hargrave was great and selected right where he needed to be. He also lived up to his potential as a mid-round, small-school prospect. It's too bad without keeping either top two selections that they didn't have the room to keep the star of this draft class.

You're calling this draft a failure when it produced the top NT of free agency this year? Hargrave will have a great career after this.

Matakevich, Davis, and Burns are still in the league with contracts. It will be interesting to see what Davis does in Washington. Hawkins is nothing more than roster depth in Tampa.

The reality is the same every year. Go back and look for yourself. You MIGHT net one or two long term players. A great year is three to be honest.
2008- Mendenhall was the only guy to log significant time/snaps on the team .
2009- Ziggy Hood and Mike Wallace. Several others played as back ups for a long time but those were the only real contributors.
2010- Pouncey, Sanders and Brown (Big year)Worilds never made it fully.
2011- Heyward, Gilbert
2012- Decastro and to some extent Beachum
2013- Bell and Vince Williams and whatever they got from uncle Jarvis
2014- Shazier (unfortunate his injury),Tuitt and McCullers (and what has he done)
2015- Dupree, Jesse James and Chickillo (SP. Teams)
2016- Hargrave is a player and got a big contract, Burns busted in Pittsburgh and in general, Sean Davis wasn't bad and I feel he will resurrect his career. Dirty Red was as significant Sp. Team player as Chickillo

My point is that the reality of the draft is a crap shoot. We get super excited about these guys and in the end 2 out of 7-9 work out if you are lucky. And its the same with everyone else. And in a year like 2016, its often about circumstance. If Davis isn't hurt last year and they trade for an available Fitz. He might be in a different circumstance. If the Steelers had cap room no way Hargrave is gone. And if they play a different defense ,I'd keep him over Bud. Even Matacevich is really a cap casualty more than anything else.

Told ya so. Love these threads.:heh::heh::heh:

And worth not, Edmunds a BUST in the Making will be next.
