I can't stand New England. The cheat and they are lucky. Lucky not only on key calls ( Tuck Rule ), but luck with geography. New England has the luxury of being in the worst division in football for the past ten years. When was the last time the Dolphins, Jets, or Bills won a playoff game? Buffalo has not made the playoffs since 1999! Miami has only made the playoffs once in the past twelve seasons! The Jets have had limited success, but have been mostly a bad football team. As such New England gets to beat up on bad teams and earns a virtual pass to the playoffs. They have won their division 11 of the last 13 times and are 63-18 vs. this pathetic division AFC East, which helps them get a high seed in the playoffs.

Suppose the Patriots were in the AFC North or West. Would they have at one less super bowl appearance? I think so, and I’ll go even further. They would have one or two less Lombardi trophies.

Agreed. Teams in the AFC North rarely get the home field because of the competition, swap the Pats with one of those teams and they're not in as many Superbowls, Pats need home field to get in.

I've said that for years that they have the benefit of playing in a crappy division that has really favored them with the perennial losers Bills, Jets and Dolphins.

Suppose they were not cheating every chance they could get...

Imagine Brady running for his life against the Ravens defense for all those years. We would probably have a dozen more rules on not touching a QB.

How many times has a afc north team beat them in the playoffs.

I do not recall that they have done so very many times since the cheating began, it is a very effective way to beat a better team. I think the Ravens did and then we beat the Ravens one year not sure though.

You ******* people kill me with this ****.
Look. I hate the patriots with a passion. I truly root for their plane to go down ala we are Marshall. But let's be real, they're the absolute standard when it comes to running a franchise. The division they play in doesn't mean ****. They cheat. Understood. But, to say they couldn't do what they do if they were in the afc north is ******* idiotic

So Gonzaga would be owning the Big 12 like they own the WCC? I think the poster's original point was valid in that they would have 1-2 losses more each year which would keep them from getting some of the byes and the H.F.A. they have had. The Patriots have been off the charts unbeatable at home since Behlicheat took over (probably due to cheating that I hope will come out some day). A road game here or there may have made a difference in the playoffs. The Patriots would still be good but they would have an extra loss or two when playing the Ravens/Steelers/Bengals vs. the Jets/Dolphins/Bills.

Ski,

They would have more losses if there were in the AFC North, and likely less playoff bids. I don't root for their place to go down, I do root for them to be badly episode as cheaters....because they are. Too bad Roger Goodell burned the copy of their filmed tape of the Ram's practice, and we never heard the logistics of how they stole signals, and used them in games.

you replace the jets with say us do they really have more losses. The jets always play them tough and they always beat us like the redheaded stepchild

I think certain teams do match-up better with teams. Case in point the Ravens seem to have the Pats number so if you insert the Ravens in that division and pull out the Fins or Bills, yes that would impact the Patriots win loss record. The Pats do seem to have our number though so putting us in that division may not have the impact that the Ravens would. Most likely it wouldn't.

So...the patriots must lose to us every time, right.
Save it

If they played in the AFC North that would just mean they would own our *** twice a year instead of only in the playoffs and we don't sniff a SB in the last ten years.

Well, since 2000, the Pats are 25-10 against the AFCN.
The breakdown
Steelers 7-3
Bengals 6-2
Browns 5-2
Ravens 7-3
Based on that, I don't think it makes any difference. They're good at whatever "they" do.

Or they are 63-18 vs AFC East 77.7% winning percentage. Here's another point. New England often clinches their sorry division early. This means they can afford to rest players in the final two weeks of the season if they can't gain any ground in the seeding.

Since 2001 the Steelers are 5-0 vs Buffalo, 5-1 vs, Miami and 6-4 vs the Jets. 16-5 overall.

By chance do you live near one of those smelly paper mills near Jacksonville? Mind yer P's and Q's or I'll start another mock draft thread :)

You're just not letting this go huh?

I am not sure if that is the case or not but I do know they would still be no good rotten cheating cocksuckers that have no redeeming qualities what so ever and those are their good points.

Who in our division would beat the Pats consistently? The Ravens give them some trouble, but so do the jets. Between Cinci and Cleveland I see 3-1 at worst. Split with the Rats for 4-2 and the steelers may beat them once every 2 years if we are lucky. So that puts them at 6-2 or 5-3. I do not think they would do any worse in our division. The Pats are 8-3 vs the Ravens (including playoffs). Since 2002 we are 3-7 and one win was vs cassel. Since 2004 the benglas are 1-4 against the pats. Since 2001 the browns are 1-4...So that makes them 31-8 against the north or an almost 80% winning percentage. Sorry I just dont see any way to twist the argument they would not own our division.

I've really about had it with "Pats envy" around here.

Who cares anymore? They're going to be top dogs until Brady and Belichick retire. And I fully expect Belichick to hang it up when Brady does. They only care about one thing now - being the ONLY QB and Coach to win 5 Super Bowls. In the minds of anyone but Pats fans, their championships are tarnished, but long after I'm gone from this earth the only thing that will count will be what the history books say. Tuck Rule, Spygate, Deflategate - they won't be mentioned by the NFL and it really won't matter in the least.
