By: Matt Papiernik,*@Matt_Papiernik*on Twitter SteelerNation.com   The Pittsburgh Steelers have put in a request to interview Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton according to Josina Anderson.   I’m told #Chargers QB coach Pep Hamilton has been informed the #Steelers are putting in a request to interview him for the OC job, per source. — […]

Just was touching on that in the other thread. You have Haskins and a possible other new QB that could be in training camp. That would benefit them greatly.
Now that is interesting. Young(er), outside the organization, has experience as an OC and did a really good job with Herbert this year.

Pep has done a hell of a job helping Herbert. Herbert is the real deal.

The general sense I get around Hamilton is Chargers fans don't want to lose him and about every team with an opening wants to interview him. He's worked with Luck and Herbert and has experience as a coordinator at the college and NFL level. He was even a head coach in the XFL. Seems very down to earth when you watch his interviews as well, so I don't expect him to come in and ruffle any feathers with an abrasive personality. No connection with Tomlin or the Steelers so we'd get a true fresh set of ideas. I think so far this is my favorite candidate.

i remember colts fans hated his guts when he was their OC

im thinking, ,,, why would an up and coming OC / DC want to come here.. i'd do the doug marrone maneuver and go to D1 and coach real ball players.

1. He caught **** largely because Luck was vastly overrated.
2. He never last more than a couple years anywhere he has ever been previously.

He’s a nomad coordinator. Would be ok here.

IF Tomlin leaves a new OC alone there is a very talented group of WR and a hall of fame QB who I think in the right system can still produce, and a defense that can more than hold their own and many games dominate and make your job easier.

The Oline and running game suck no doubt, but I think this could be an attractive job

There seems to be question marks around Canada. I'm glad they didn't rubber stamp that move and paused. Let's put some Pep in the offense. They need it.

I think they MUST be pushing ben for a decision right now.. In order to make this OC position decision IMO

cant believe they would jettison Canada for a brand new system With ben coming back for probably one year.

I don't think it is a decision as much as it is what Ben would be prepared to do financially. Its gonna be tough to make that work without pushing big money off to 2022.

You're right about the financial decision if he wants to come back. That cap hit will have to come way down and any extension is going to have to pay him much less than what he's used to taking on these types of deals.

22 million dollars is already in his bank account. There has to be new money added. Now I don't know what league rules are on renegotiating a contract. I cannot see him playing for less than 12 million new dollars which would essentially have to be tacked on to 2021. Don't remortgage the house to by the boat, people.

You got to love the first name for an O-Coordinator..

What great offense didn't have some pep?
